How many kids is enough?
« on: April 14, 2012, 12:15:08 PM »
What is a good number of kids to have on the Sims 3? I want to be able to raise each well, not be overwhelmed by too many; but also, I am one who loves children. Ideas? :-\

I usually have two, but it really depends on the number of people you can handle in one household. Example: for me, eight sims is too much, so I usually stick to four or five. That's room for three or four children.
The outside is quiet, but the inside is on full blast.

It is probably best to start with one and see how that goes.  Or you could just jump in head first it depends on how you want to play.
The first time I ever played a Sims 3 game I had the bright idea to have my couple both have the fertility treatment they ended up with a single birth followed by triplets then twins all born almost straight after one another. PLus I didn't even know how to make make needs static so it was a bit hectic for awhile. After that I could handle almost anything.

Now I tend to have two or three children hardly ever one unless I am playing an immortal dynasty.

For me it depends if you're playing a male or female sim. The female sims get the bad end of deal in their careers; time off from work, etc. So, when playing a female sim, I tend to use the Time machine to get an older kid, so she doesn't miss work. When using a male sim; depending on his family preference, they have a ton of kids.

I always have around 3 kids, but quite far apart in terms of aging. For example I have 2 within the Young Adult life stage and 1 with the Adult. This allows me to raise each kid properly.

I would stay around two to three yet, I went for broke. Five.

It isn't that bad once they get to the child and teen stage.

I stick to my Sims wishes. If they want another one and there is space I'll let them have one. If they don't wish for another I tend to stick at that unless I want another one for them, Lol.  :)

I often go by the wishes, too.  Also, family oriented Sims will wish for more children, so be prepared!  My current Dynasty has been having two to three children per generation.  This works nicely and leaves me room for cats and having kittens.
