The sliders are needed if you download a sim that was made with them. Also, they help to create a better look on your sim. the EA sims faces are a mess. BUT, if your simporting, they may not look the same when they get to their destination.

Thank you.  It was really helpful.

Personally, I have used and experimented with them before, and I don't like them at all. The Sims look really creepy, and nearly fake, like another plastic Barbie Doll to me. Then you get someone downloading them and it really messes up your game. I kind of like the cartoonish look anyways.

You might want to be careful with default replacements too.

I don't have any skin sliders (though the ones to change the colors to shades other than the preset ones look kinda neat) The skins that make them look like plastic are creepy and not for me!  I do have body sliders (broader shoulders, bigger hips etc) I rarely use it.  The one I do like is the ear slider - I can make awesome elf like ears with them and of everything I use those the most (I even have a legacy story going on with elves.  (see my signature for Nightwing Legacy - a good example of elven ears, which are genetic and passed on.)

I'd miss the ears but could get rid of all the other sliders except the EA ones of course!

In your opinion - some of them look so creepy to me!  ;) I guess it depends who mades them and why, I mean some of them just look plastic like Jeana said. I would so download the Elf Ear Mod but it would be in my Dynasty then and I've been having trouble with separate Folders from Factory Resets so 'Oh well...'.

I have a couple that look very nice. Others I had downloaded because their picture on the site I use looked good; but, when I got them in the game I didn't like them and deleted them.
I think sometimes the EA sims heads are just too big.

You can adjust head size in the EA Sliders? You have to do it on a slider that affects the X and one that does the Y and they aren't obvious. I only found out because one of the presets had a smaller head.

There are few other sliders for fine tuning.

Personally, I like my sims much more with new default skin/eyes. The sim in my avatar has Aikea Guinea's default replacement skin and eyes and it was a huge improvement over the original sim.

I don't even see the point in wasting memory with this stuff. :-\ All the skin colours I'd ever want are right there, and as for special more rainbowy colours like purple and yellow - It's already been leaked that they'll be coming with a future EP, so I'll just wait till they come instead of downloading some random 3rd party thing. The elf ears are cool, but they are also coming with the new patch/EP. I hate the way the eyes and stuff look too, they just look fake and plastic-y and ugh I don't get how you people can like them, haha. :P

Not to mention the fact that this stuff only seems to render well with high graphics, which not all of us have. ::)

I don't think were allowed to discuss third party Skins anyways, right? Isn't this suppose to be mods, like say, fixing a certain game feature, and not trying to change how a Sim looks?

Not trying to police or anything.

Besides, as I said in my first post, I agree with Tom, Fez and warr. I think EA stuff is much better than the modified third party stuff, because the Sim looks fine as is. Sims aren't suppose to look fake or realistic with that glowing skin, (a la Barbie) and sparkly eyes. They're supposed to look like Sims. Besides, I can simply play TSM if I wanted cool elf ears, and I learned not to waste memory space in my game by being patient.

Never mind then. I thought skins fell under Custom Content, like the hairs and say, a cool bed.
