Missing/dead sim and family doesn't know?

Hi

I logged onto my game and the little square icon for my wife had vanished, when I clicked on messages it said her car had been sold as she has died.

I didn't see her die, I don't know how she died, there are no ashes anywhere.

Her family still think she is alive as I have had a wish from the husband to kiss the wife, and when I got to relationship panel she is still showing there as wife/mother.

I've tried reset sim and nothing happened, is there anyway to a) get her back b) get the other sims to realise she his dead.

That's definitely a bug.  Do you have a previous save you can play?

Not as far as a I know, where would I find it (sorry I am clueless about this kind of thing)

Something like that happened to me, Holly Alto from SV dissapeared and in the family tree had a blank square, she was no longer in the relationships box either.

My woman is in the family tree and relationship bar I wouldn't know she was "dead" if it wasn't for the fact I got a message saying her car had been sold as she died.

Have you generations installed? Someone on the forum send the parents on vacation and the same thing happened

Yes I have generations installed, I got the option for parents vacation but said no, and I still have my dad here

What you can do, before you save, do this:
From another thread, posted by me:

Here is what I do, works for me on Win 7,
Open My Documents, Electronic Arts, The Sims 3, Saves, and find mydynasty.sims3 and mydynasty.sims3.backup.
Drag "mydynasty.sims3" to your desktop and duplicate "mydynasty.sims3.backup" (copy mydynasty.sims3.backup. and
paste) and rename the duplicate to mydynasty.sims3
MyDynasty is your save file name....

Will that work if I have saved more than once since she died?

I think I know how she died now? I think she was fixing the dishwasher and got electrocuted, but her family should still realise she is dead shouldn't they? And would she still have ashes if she died that way?

When you are in main menu is she still in the picture? Or you can have look in edit town.

Yes when I choose which family to play in main menu, there is the husband and wife and two teenage sons, but when you go into the game there is no little square with her head in.

You can try and save the family to bin and start in a new town with them. Or you can put the family in edit town on the clipboard and move them back in.

Ok none of that worked lol

I think I've figured out why she died anyway, I had the life set to epic then changed it to normal, so when she died her family didn't know, well I've just had a message saying the husband is in mourning as his wife has died (this is about 30 game days later) I still have no ashes or anything but at least they know she is dead now.

Ok so you know how the wife died? And then eventually it was like the game caught up and the husband realised she died and he mourned for 2 days?

Well like a week after that he got flirting with someone and it then said he was a cheater? Why is that, he's a widower so surely he can't be a cheater?
