Serious Comittment Issues!
« on: April 29, 2010, 07:23:45 AM »
Hey All,

I don't normally have too many problems in my Sims games but this one has me stumped!

My legacy has a French/nectar making theme to it. It is a matriarchy but I want the fathers to be French so that the legacy has a common theme.

My founder went to France, had a romance, got pregnant on holiday (at the Nectary no less, the hussy ;)) got engaged and returned home to have twins. She invited the dad over, got married and he moved in. All good so far!

Well these bunnies had three sets of twins (so full house) and once the dad passed  away and the kids were all grown up but still living at home,  the heir (a girl) called over her French boyfriend and they tried for baby and she was pregnant.

As there was no space for him to move in (there were 7 Sims plus one 'in the oven')  they got engaged and waited for space to become available.

The founder died freeing up a space in the house and I got my kids to marry before the kid arrived but... he didn't move in! He changed his name, he was listed as 'Husband' and 'brother in law' in all the relationship panels but didn't move in. I put this down to her pregnancy (perhaps she was having twins) and he scuttled back to France. Anyhow, the kid was born and mum took kid home and tried to call the dad to see if he would move in again. When she called he was listed as 'husband' but when he arrived on the lot he was listed as 'boyfriend'. Bizarrely he didn’t go back to France and was not listed under ‘invite foreign visitors’ but was a regular ‘chat/invite over’ guy. Anyway I got her to woo him again and they got engaged and had private wedding and eventually the move in box came up… and never went away. I went for a cup of tea but it didn't move and after 10 mins I accepted that my game was stuck. I exited the game and restarted from my save point (just after she got pregnant).

Anyway I was patient this time and waited for the founder to die and the kid to be born before going for the private wedding and… the same flipping thing happened! He changed his name , they had a private wedding and he didn’t move in. He went away, she tried again and the game froze on the move in screen! Talk about serious commitment issues, if he didn't want to move in he could've just said No!

Anyway, after that long ramble my questions are (if anyone’s still awake ;))
Has anyone had this before?
Does anyone know what to do about it?

Cheers

Maybe you should have him move in before the ceremony...  ??? I have not had this happen, I always thought newly-weds had to move in with each other for some reason,  :) So I think that is your best bet!  :D

None of my Sims have married someone from another country, but this almost sounds like a corrupted game file if you got stuck on the move in screen twice in a row.

I have married several foreign sims and have never had this happen.  How odd!

I think there is a lot of bugs with regards to foreign romances.

I thought someone had said at one time there was a bug for visitors and romance.  That is ok, my sim went on vacation to France, got the girl pregnant. She went home and two days later in his friends list his daughter was a youth and had his last name, as did the mother.  I waited a couple of days and decided to have him call his daughter and they were gone from his friends list, mother, daughter and the mothers father, no where to be found.  That really messed up my game play.  I guess you would call that a comittment issue.

Sorry, did not mean to get off your topic, but I think there is still some issues with this, some have problems, some don't. I have never moved in a foreign visitor before, so I guess I can't really say, I have just had the issue like alot of others with children in other countries without the romance part.
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

This won't help your problem, but there are no infants or toddlers in the foreign countries.  They all immediately become children after birth.  Odd, but true.  :D
