Drawbacks of Raising Career Level by Cheats

I am very impacient so I went ahead and cheated with the progress bar for my singer to get her to a higher level. Even though singing is a hidden skill could doing this have drawbacks in that department? Like not having as good shows because the singing level isn't high enough?

Has singing actually been confirmed to be a hidden skill?  I only ask because the Singer I did for the guide had her first incredible show at level 3, and the worst show she ever put on was "good."  As far as I can tell, the only things that influence your performance are your traits, your stage set-up and how good you are at mixing things up while you're performing.

I can look up the skill in MC (and modify it, if need be).  Took a magician to level 10 career, then had him quit, and he still had the magician skill of 10.

Yes, singing, acrobat and magician are all hidden skills, which remain after you quit their respective jobs.  It's easy to see if you use Twallan's Master Controller mod.

The only effect the hidden skill has is in which venues you can perform in, so for example I raised my acrobats job skill quite a lot of levels simply by raising athletics, to the point that I was a level 10 acrobat, but had a hidden acrobat skill of only 6.  This meant that even though I could go for auditions at the big venues, they always turned me down and told me to come back when I was more accomplished.

So auditions go off hidden skill, rather than job level.

I raised my Sim to Level 10 and she was unable to perform at the Park as she was not good enough. So you do have to develop the Career.
