Expanding apartments freezing game?

This could just be my computer, but I'm starting to get frustrated so I need to ask.

I've attempted to use the testingcheatsenabled true > buydebug > restrictbuildbuyinbuildings off cheat in order to turn a small skyscraper apartment into a large living space that takes up the entire floor of a high rise, and it's worked every time. Except when it comes to switching from Buy Mode to Live Mode in order to save my progress. I've lost it all four separate times because my game freezes on me every time I try to switch from BM to LM and I have to ctrl-alt-del out of it.

Can anyone tell me if this is a bug/glitch? Or if it might just be my system? I've never had any problems running Sims in the past. It's just trying to do this that freezes me every time.

Windows 7
Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU P6200  @ 2.13GHz, 2133 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
4GB Memory

Did you remember to turn of the buildbuy cheat before exiting? I had that problem when I forgot to reset the cheat to true.

Good luck! My sim is presently living in a 5 bedroom duplex penthouse.

THANK YOU. That's exactly what I was looking for. It never would have occurred to me to do that, either. I actually just got into Sims about a week ago, so I'm still slowly learning all the ropes and tricks. This is a really great forum with really helpful people. I'm so happy I found it! ♥

Is that what causes that freeze ?

After a few more tries I can confirm that once you go into Buy/Build Mode, enable 'restrictbuildbuyinbuildings off' and 'buydebug on' in order to make changes (I also like to use moveobjects on'), and then BOTH 'restrictbuildbuyinbuildings on' and 'buydebug off' before you exit Buy/Build Mode. You have to turn BOTH cheats off or the game will freeze when you try to go back into Live Mode.
