Which Sims 3 Expansion pack is worth it??

I would like to know, out of Ambitions, Generations and World Adventures, which is worth buying?? I really would like any of them, but can only afford one. They are the same price, and I don't know which one to buy. Someone please help me decide!

I can't really say what would be the best to get, but I can give you some info that may make the decision easier. I see you are in Australia, do you have an EB store close by? At the moment, EB has a promotion where certain games have a buy one get one free sticker on them. And I'm pretty sure I've seen all the EP's (except Showtime) on the table. If you get it there, you could then get two expansion packs for the price of one, so then you would just have to decide which one NOT to get

It probably depends on what you like your sims to do. I have all three of these, so:

Ambitions - good if you want to make lots of money and like jobs in the sims, or if you want to control your simmies at work. The professions are quite good fun. Also comes with a new town, Twinbrook, which is really pretty but the sims are, erm, fashion-challenged. There's also the consignment shop which helps you make more money off your paintings and other stuff.

WA - three new skills and three destinations. The destinations can take quite a while to load and there's more bugs with this expansion than the other two. The adventures are really good fun especially if you like puzzle-solving. Time stops while you're away from your home town so it's good for skilling up too.

Generations - probably not worth it if you tend to play adult single sims, but if you play a family there's loads of new stuff like going to prom, afterschool clubs, and new toys for kids and teens. There's also quite a few nice clothes with this expansion, especially maternity stuff. No new town though.

So, really, it all depends on what you like to do in your game.

We've already had this questions asked many times.  There's really no good answer because everyone has different opinions and interests.  Have you browsed through the Forum to look at other threads that ask the same question?  And have you read Carl's guide about the different expansion packs?

If I could only pick one of those 3, I'd go for Ambitions. I'm a little biased because I bought the base game w/Ambitions when I decided to reignite my obsession with the series, but having since bought the other expansion packs up through Generations, I couldn't imagine the game without the features, skills and items that Ambitions has.

Ambitions is good but bad, bad because you can't do more than one of the new careers at once due to well, "free will" but the self employement feature is good

Pets, then Ambitions are the best.
Generations and Showtime are a waste of money (I really regret getting them tbh)...

While Pets is my absolute favorite, mods, I hope this isn't a frivolous answer, but I think they're all worth it, in their own way! It all depends on what you like with your games. If you are big on raising families, I would recommend Generations. If you're into vacations and adventure, I would go with World Adventures of course! If you like the feel of big city, entertainment, celebrities, and Vampires, I would go with Showtime and Late Night. If you like Sims for the careers, I would recommend Ambitions. If you're an animal lover like me (I'm mostly a cat person), Pets is the most fun!

It's all based on your personal preferences. I can't just say one specific one is worth it, because they all are. It's all on your personal taste. Have you played Sims 2? What was your favorite EP from TS2? Maybe that will help you out, a bit as well.

I currently play Ambitions, Generations and Pets, and from those I think Ambitions is definitely my favourite. I play through Steam, so I'm currently holding out to see if I can get any more reduced EPs from the summer sale when it finally arrives. At 50-75% off I think they're definitely worth buying, I'm a bit reluctant to pay full price though!
