Spouse's career?
« on: March 12, 2012, 07:00:26 PM »
My writer sim married and he is a paper boy, just starting his career in journalism.  He has been given some time off with pay but what I am wondering is, does he go back to work?

Right now all he seems to be doing is sitting at the computer and playing that stupid LOUD game that annoys the crap out of me.  I wish there was a volume control, like on the music.

Anyhow, I wondered about his work, does he go back, and how do I know when he is hungry, needs to sleep, tell him to fix a meal and such.  There is no panel for him.

How will I know how well he is (or isn't) doing at his career?
She is making enough simeoleons that he wouldn't have to work, but I would end up divorcing him to keep him from playing that computer game !

I was thinking of moving them to a bigger house, but wanted to see how things work out.

Does your spouse's portrait show up at the bottom left of the screen? If so, you can click on it and bring up all his information. You can also control him and have him do something other than play computer games.

Yes, like MarianT says, if they are married they should be living in the same house, right?
So you have them both under your control.

He is taking time off from work because of the marriage. The couple gets a small holiday after marriage.

And the really loud computer game sound seems to be sort of a glitch. Sometimes it's really, really loud. When you learn to control them both, try cancelling the game and try again if it gets too loud.

There are two paperboy careers.  One is a low level in the Journalism career, the other is a "Service Sim Job."  Whether or not he will return to work depends on which job he had before.

If your Sim's husband works in the Journalism career, he will return to work.  The days off that are given are actual work days, so if he has days off during this time period they don't deduct from the days off he has.  If your Sim married the paperboy...as in the guy who delivers the newspaper to your house every day, he's now unemployed.  This is an NPC only career, like maids, handymen, and pizza delivery guys.  Once you bring one of these NPC's into the household, they automatically quit their jobs.

To know for sure, check the career tab on his player interface.  It will either say "Journalism" career and have all his work related information there, or it will say "Unemployed."

Thanks eveyone,

It showed him as being in Journalism.  It also showed him having a romantic interest in someone else, beside ME !  That two-timing jerk  (LOL)
Right now I am dealing with the something, flu, virus, very, very severe cold or whatever; who cares what it is called, I am sick and I will deal with him later.
