Sim Randomly Changing Outfits
« on: March 17, 2012, 12:58:58 AM »
So, I started up my game a few minutes ago, and saw that my sim's portrait graphic showed him something other than what I picked out for him.  his everyday outfit and hair had totally changed.  I went into the game, bought a dresser, and changed him back to his original look.  He slept, went to work, and then came home with yet another everyday outfit.  So far his sleepwear hasn't changed, and he hasn't been in athletic or swimwear yet.  He does not have the insane or inappropiate traits.  I have played sims that did, though, and even they didn't totally change their default looks, just did things like wear formal wear to bed and such.

Anyone else having this issue, or is it just a me thing?

I've had some weird things happen with clothing, too.  Random changes like you described, and also several duplicates of an outfit.  For instance, it will duplicate the Athletic outfit and I'll have Athletic 1, Athletic 2, Athletic 3, Athletic 4, Athletic 5, etc.  All the same outfit.  I'd go to a dresser and delete the duplicates, but they'd come back again.  I haven't been able to figure out what's causing it.  My best guess is that it's a bug.

I've had the additional outfits too Pam. As for your Sim Tealeaf, you said when he went to work. Where does he work? I'm sure I read somewhere about outfits being added to low levels of a career that wee just everyday clothes (trying to find that thread now)

*edit* Found it! In the Showtime first impressions thread, Ricalynn mentioned (and others said for them too) that career outfits seem to be messed up. (page 3 of that thread)

I have the Showtime expansion, buy my sim is a teacher.  I've been playing him for a few days now, and tonight is the first time this issue has come up.  And, as Pam said, I noticed that I did have a duplicate of my everyday wear, which I deleted.  I dunno, maybe this is a by product of the latest patch.

My save and load times do seem to be much faster, and I haven't error 12'ved yet, so there is a plus side.  I just wish my sim would keep his elegantly tasteful threads on instead of deciding to put on skater gear and shave his head!

This was happening to me before the latest patch.

This started with 1.31.  I'm not totally sure what's causing it, but it happens regularly.  I don't think it's directly linked to the new career outfit options, because it has happened to Sims that have never used them.

One time I know for sure that it happened was when my Sim got a tattoo at the salon.  She changed into her bathing suit and when she changed back her default outfit was something else and the one I picked for her was the secondary outfit.

It does seem to be very random, then.  I had it happen to me twice for the first time when I started to play tonight.  I've been playing for a few hours now, and it hasn't happened again.  It's not exactly what I would call a gameplay changing issue, but I still wish it wasn't going on at all.

No, not a game breaker by any stretch of the imagination...but it does annoy me to no end lol.

I forgot to mention that it not only happened the first time she got a tattoo (she was rebellious), it happened every time she got one.

I think this has been a problem for a long time.  It happened to me many times in a challenge from last year.  I've had it happen since, too, though I haven't noticed an increase lately, though I've yet to install Showtime.  In a way it's unwelcome because of course I spend awhile picking out a sim's outfits, but often the outfits the game has created (at least for me) haven't been bad, so I try to think of them as my sim choosing for him or herself.

That just happened to me today, but luckily the old outfit was still saved as "Everyday 2". The game put my tough rock Sim in a cute little butterfly T-shirt.  :)
