How Did 3rd Party Items Get In Build/Buy mode?

 :-[Okay I probably know the answer to this one.  I, knowing it was a bad idea downloaded a house from the Sims 3 exchange.  It looked okay, only required the base game.  The furnishings looked like they were from the store on the base game, so I thought everything was fine.  But I noticed in build/buy mode that there were some decor items that were from TSR and the sims resource?  How do I get rid of this stuff? I already deleted the house I downloaded.  Actually I did download one more house which was also deleted.  Do I need to go into my PC files and delete something there?  Someone please advise, I won't do it again

I'm not sure! Check in your mydocuments/electronic arts/ the sims 3/ folder if there is a mods folder.

Hi Breerents,

Earlier this year I made the mistake of downloading some files via the exchange. First thing I noticed was some of the files installed CC (Custom Content) files into my game. That made me a very unhappy simmer.

Hubby helped me unistall what I had downloaded from the exchange. Told me to look through the Downloads and Installed Contents tabs in the launcher program and delete anything that doesn't quite look right. I went through all the categories - Sims, Lots, Objects and Patterns. As there was some CC in every category. That seemed to help get rid of the files.

I'm not sure if this will entirely help your situation, but I'm hoping it'll help some.

Thanks MrsFlynn, I saw that stuff in the launcher and deleted it.  I am sure its no longer in the game and I'll look later when I play.  Thanks again.

You have to do more than delete it from the launcher and from every single tab in the launcher.  You have to go into your "Downloads" folder and scroll through the items there and  download there as well to make sure you've got it all.  It really is a pain when you get these nasty surprises.  I will sometimes download from the exchange but only from builders I've known a long time or who I know are also here.
