How do I get a new town?

Noob here.  I don't own any expansion packs, just the base game.  Is it possible for me to get other towns to play in without purchasing an expansion pack, or is Sunset Valley as good as it gets?

Hi deknbluz, welcome to the forum  :). You're in luck; EA provides a free downloadable world, Riverview, to anyone who registers their game on the Sims 3 website. You can download it here. There are also plenty of free player-made worlds that were made using the official Create-a-World tool. I can only remember ones which have Expansion Pack content in them, but there are definitely some great Base Game worlds out there if you look hard enough.
