After you download and install a Sim to your game, you should be able to see them when you're in Edit Town mode (for an existing game).  Or you'll see them in the bin with the other pre-made Sims when you start a new game.

I hope this helps!

Hi kat...I'm sure you probably know about it, but did you check CAS at the bottom where all the sillouttes are?  That's where I find the sims that I have downloaded.

Thank you for your help! I finally found them in the 'premade sims' section of CAS, which I didn't know existed!
They didn't look the same though - I downloaded them for the lovely blonde hair they had which I assume was a custom job as they didn't have any premium items, but it didn't show up in the game - they just have standard brown hair :-(

If they have custom hair, you'd have to download and install that specific hair file from whichever third party created it for it to show up on the Sim.

If you purchased the hair from the Sims 3 Store, you just have to install it from the Launcher.  If you downloaded it from a third party site as custom content, you'll have to follow some more complicated instructions.  The site you downloaded from should have the instructions.  A word of caution...  third party content is not part of the official Sims 3 content and it could put your game in jeopardy.

dont get third party stuff... i had to reinstall Sims 3... lost all my simming data... (sad day) but... if you want further help you have to be more specific for me. From what i'm hearing you have it in your Sims Launcher? Or do you have it in your Document>EA>TheSims3>Downloads? Cuz Custom Content is hard to install i cant explain it here... I'll find one real quick
this should help...

What exactly did you get from the exchange?  I know I had some problems for a while, then they updated The Sims3 site and then I was able to download the objects.  Is the things you want to download in your purchase history yet?

It was mainly lots but some other things didn't work and I hadn't installed them or downloaded them before.

When I clicked download it came up with the manager but nothing happened on the screen.  :-\ ??? :-\

There are some CC sites that protect their stuff they have a way of stopping people from passing it on for free so you sometimes need a mesh. I think CC is not worth is to be honest as you often need a lot for it to mix in well.
