Deleting a Character
« on: February 29, 2012, 04:39:48 PM »
Hi, I am new to not only the Sims 3, but to all SIMS games.  I am enjoying so far what  am doing, which I will admit isn't much, but still am finding it enjoyable. ;D

My question/problem is, I can't figure out how to delete totally the character/game that I  have of my specific SIM.  I have created a couple and would like to delete them and start fresh, doing a much better job.  One example is that went to build my own home and didn't know to build the foundation first.  I had checked out three sites that discussed building and since a foundation wasn't mentioned I decided to be totally stupid and go with it wasn't needed.
The other I went with a home already built, but when asked if I was up to the challenge to deal with the house over a graveyard, I well, I didn't know what I was getting into.  My over excitable neat character is freaking out over all of the ghosts making mess, and I do mean MESSES all over the place.   :'(  There were six of them trashing up the house when I sent her to the library to get away.

So, I would like to start fresh and remove these characters, their games; no sense in taking up room on my computer when I won't be finishing them.  I prefer to have characters who aren't as challenging until after I learn how to do things.

Any help in that area would be greatly appreciated.

On the Main menu, look for a garbage can.  Choose the game you wish to delete and then hit that button.  It should delete the game.

Also, go into your sim file and delete the saved game. When I get tired of a game, or have another idea for the same town, I open the saved file and delete the game.

Thanks,  Maybe when I get over this flu I will be able to think.  I am at the tail end of it, still feeling lousy, but at least wanting to play games.  I had the game downloaded for a week before I even felt like looking at it.

That's truly unfortunate.  I'm coming off a good illness myself, so I empathize with you completely.  Hope you feel better soon!

Welcome to our Forum, Janna.

It's actually not necessary to delete that game file.  You can start a new game completely separate from it, just like you started that game.  The game will hold almost an infinite number of game files as long as each has a different name.  The reason I mention this is that players tend to get attached to Sims and it might be fun for you someday to go back and see that file again.  I've lost my first game file long ago, as well as my first Sim, and I regret that I didn't at least save her to the bin to play in other games.
