Taking friend to China

My artist has been offered a commision to paint a large picture in China for a merchant. 

I know the payment won't even come near the cost of going, but accepted it, thinking it would be nice.  But also wondering if it would be worth it, I may have to do the cheat to get the money to go, it will not wipe out income, but seriously damange it  (11,000 simoleons - sp ?). 
Hate to lose out of advancement of romance, so wondering if I can take him as a boyfriend with me.  Can that be done?  Who knows, by the time we leave he may be hubby.

You can take another sim along if he/she is part of your household.
But don't worry about leaving him behind, because while your sim is travelling, the time does not advance at the home town. Everything will be like you left it.

Travelling to China shouldn't cost 11k simoleons. Shorter trips are cheaper, and when you are there, you can for example collect rare ore and gems etc. to make something back. If you do some missions while there, you will get some money as rewards, too. Travelling is fun, and you can get some items you can't get from anywhere else, so it is worth it in my opinion.

A word of warning: travelling is usually safe, but there are many game glitches and bugs related to it. Before you send your sim off, it's recommended to make another save file by "Save as...", just in case. If something goes wrong, you can then go back to your previous save and not loose all your gameplay. I have had my save file become corrupted due the travel more than once, so I never travel without making a new file.

Thanks fo the info.  I should have clarified that the 11k is what I have in my income section, not what it will cost to travel to China, that would be 1,200 for three days.  So, I could afford to go at that amount, but not sure what it would cost for other stuff, food and such needed there.

If he becomes hubby before I go, nice honeymoon,  that would be 2,400 and extra for whatever is needed; do I need to buy a visa?

He is in law enforcement and athletic, so if it would be possible he could do something in the martial arts.

Can you ask him to move n with you before? Otherwise, go on vacation without him, and nothing will be different when you return.

I send my Sims to China to deliberately increase the family funds.  My current Sim had about $4,000 when he left for China and after selling everything he brought back, he had about $40,000.  First, look in the Base Camp the moment you arrive and take all the books from the two bookshelves.  They won't be worth anything while you're in China, but they will be quite valuable when you sell them back at home.  You can take the portable stereo, too, if you want.  Then go to the adventure board and check for adventures until you get one called "Telescopic Metal" which wants you to find metals all around the area.  They will be tagged on the map view of the town and when you hover over the tag, it tells you what the metal is.  I focus on Platinum, Palladium, Plutonium, and Mercury.  They give the best return on investment.  Have them smelted and then sell the ingots for some very nice cash.

So, in summary, you can take the painting to China and also make a lot of Simoleons!
