How to make friends in your sleep

My Sim Independence Douglas (she even has her own personal tartan) has been doing some travelling, mostly to China as her LTW was to win a martial arts tournament.  When she returned from the last trip she was very tired and went straight to bed after a quick meal.  When she got up the next morning, about 6 hours later, she had a "new friend" moodlet with 8 hours to go on it.  It would appear she made a friend while asleep - has anyone else had this happen?  Maybe she zeneports in her sleep.  She also had a new friend moodlet when she arrived at her present trip to Egypt, even though she hadn't been socializing before travelling.    I wish all my characters had such an easy time making friends!

Isn't that crazy? I have had that happen. I'm not certain of why it happens. The Attractive reward could be a big reason. Does your Sim have some of the Charisma challenges completed?

With the Charisma Challenges and Attractive LTHP you still have to talk to the sim first before making friends - well thats what I have found!

Isn't that crazy? I have had that happen. I'm not certain of why it happens. The Attractive reward could be a big reason. Does your Sim have some of the Charisma challenges completed?

She had the Attractive reward and the Charisma challenge where they have to have a lot of acquaintances, because of all the sparring she was doing.  I tried to figure out from her relationship panel who the new friend was, but there were too many people there.  Anyway, not a big deal, I just thought it was funny.  I have this mental picture of her leaving her body in her sleep and heading out to socialize.

I get that alot. I think (correct me if I'm wrong) it has to do with the long distance friend LTR b/c I never notice it before I buy it. Than after I buy it, I see it just about every day around 11:00 a.m. is when it hits my sims!

I just happened to run into that too.  When she awoke, she had a new friend moodlet and she had not even been to work or anywhere, as she was on maternity leave.  She also has the charismatic trait.  She has so many friends, you can't even see who the new friend is.  Also I have noticed the same with losing a friend, can never figure out which friend she lost, but the moodlet stays for quite some time.

I don't think it can be that, Rjasonj, because a child I have in the present game had an acquaintance become a best friend overnight while in China.  The child doesn't have any LTRs other than fast learner.

I think they have a dream about that person and it makes your Sim either like or dislike the other Sim.

I have a suspicion that it occurs when people walk across the sidewalk in front of the lot. Especially when my sims are sleeping outside, I've noticed that they get wishes to do things with people who walk across in the early morning or something. I think that would make them acquaintances, and, if all acquaintances immediately become friends, then that would result in friendship.
