Elder pets unable to drink young again potion
« on: January 24, 2012, 04:13:08 PM »
Hey everyone! First off, I love this site. Very informative. Now to the problem. I am going through the game doing every job and ltw spanning generations, cloning or breeding pets so the next generation can have the same pet. Unfortunately, my elder pets are for some reason unable to drink the young again potion for pets. Adults are able to drink it, but what's the point if it just takes them back days? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to our Forum!

Put the pet's potion in your Sim's inventory and give it to the pet from there.  It will set the elder pet back to the beginning of the Adult stage.

For some reason, the elder pet doesn't show up in the list... any ideas? And thanks for the help!

You've got the potion in your Sim's personal inventory?  What exactly comes up when you click on it?

Yes, I have it in my sim's inventory. What happens is it gives me the option to "make pet young again", but the desired pet (always the elders, I can always do it to adults, but what's the point if it only gives days back to the pet?) doesn't show up in the list of pets to use it on. I have to either shift click the pet to edit in cas and change the age in basics, or just live with the fact that the pet's going to die. Annoying to say the least. Before you ask, I have mods. I have two mods and two overrides. But the overrides were just installed last night (after the problem arose), so I don't think it's those.

It's quite possible the mods are causing the problem.  Please note that I removed the details of the mods from your post as it violates our Forum Rules (link in my signature below).  I've only used the young again potion on a pet (it was an elder) once and it worked just fine.  I really don't know what could be causing it.

Sorry about the mod thing. I'm new here. I just tried removing the mods, but it had no effect. Same problem.  :'(

I guess you've got a glitched pet.  At this point, the only chance of fixing it would be a factory reset or a complete re-install, but it's no guarantee.  If the file is corrupt, it will still do it even after the repairs.  If you decide to try those methods, be sure to read our topic about saving your game files and the topics that give the instructions.

What if it's corrupt?

What if it's corrupt?

If it's corrupt, there's nothing you can do to fix it.  It happens sometimes with game files and we just have to give them up and play a different one.
