Collecting Rainbow Varieties

I'm in River View.  I've been searching non-stop for hours upon hours.  I have every Gem/Butterfly/Beetle there is, apart from the Rainbow varieties.  I even have found 10 pink diamonds, but no rainbow!

Are there any particular spawn spots, or is there something you have to do first, before they spawn?  I have donated over 400 insects to science and have collecting 500+ gems.  Why have I not found them?  I clear the whole map of gems and insects every time.

I'm just getting a bit frustrated and doubt they even exist on this map.  I looked around on the net, and there doesn't seem to be any answers about this for River View - just forum topics of people having the same problem?

As far as I know spawners of collectables can be completely random, there may be a bug to do with it I have not heard of one, If you have WA then I suggest learning board breaking then get to be able to smash Space Rocks that gives me a few rainbows every now and then, having done the Athletic Strength Challenge also helps a lot, it can also be much better than looking for the gems!

I have better luck finding Rainbow Gems in the foreign countries.  Do you have World Adventures?

No.  I was put off buying it because of all the glitches/bugs.

I have, since, "found" all the rainbow items, but I got so fed up with looking that I did it through the testingcheatsenabled > buydebug method.  Just placed loads of gems/butterfly/beetle spawners all over my garden (and I mean LOADS).

It worked a little too well... the ground was literally moving from all of the beetles, couldn't see through the butterflies and I couldn't collect all the gems fast enough before they spawned again.  It was a bit crazy, but after 20 minutes of just collecting from my garden, I had over a dozen of each rainbow variety, and literally hundreds of everything else.  I then deleted all the spawners... lol...

But that's over and done with.  Shame I had to resort to such methods, but it was starting to drag down my game play.
