No Metro, she did not, I knew from the start that getting opportunities for guitar skill means I can't have any other skills. (It was pretty hard cause the girl I created needed to eat quick meals/at the restaurant the whole time O.o). Good thing Charisma skill can only be trained when you've reached at least level one by reading a book or attending class (or practicing a speech I guess).

On a side note, but not entirely unrelated:
On simswiki.info there's a list of books that you get from opportunities (the authors of the game came up with a lot of them!), and it shows that you can get them only on a certain level of career. I wonder if there is such a restraint put on skill opportunities (it's hard to define, since there's no way, even through cheating, to force opportunity).

For now we're basically left making our poor Sim a bonafied slacker waiting to play at the parties.

Alright, Justine. I'm off to bed for now, but as I mentioned in the other thread I'll be tackling my new guitar article tomorrow, so it's going to be incredibly detailed on all aspects of a guitar player. I'll find out the quickest way to get stuff done for all the budding guitarists out there.

AH! There's a catch you might want to mention!

If there's someone trying for symphonic branch, but wanting to complete the challenge, they should be careful to avoid learning music theory in work options. It builds both logic and guitar skill, so you could waste your effort by just trying to get promoted faster.

Metro is right.  I also started a thread about this.  I basically started a new Sim and had them only play the guitar.  No cooking, no fixing, no anything, just the guitar.  I got the Guitar Star soon enough this way, but if you have other skills... no way.  The opportunities don't come up.  The good news is that it seemed to me that even sorting out the bookstore and going to guitar comps at the theatre went towards the Guitar Star.  You have no way of knowing what your count is, but keep going, it will come eventually.

If your Sim has other skills, you won't complete the skill challange.  Throwing parties and playing guitar at random venues do NOT count.

Yeah, in my recent Mr. 3000: Uber Guitar Star walkthrough I mention that I spaced out on that tidbit and had him get a Charisma skill at the end of the first week (his LTW was Super Popular). I did eventually get the Guitar Star Challenge, but it took so much longer than it had to because of all the Charisma Opportunities that were thrown at me that were just cancelled. So, it can be done with other skills, but it's definitely not recommended.
