Eating on community lots?

Please forgive me if this has been discussed before; I did a search and could not find anything.

I know there was a brief discussion of bartenders in the casino once (I can't find that, either). My recollection is that a bartender placed on a non-bar lot will only serve the basic drinks, and no food.

Is there any option for food service in community lots? Can I place, for example, a French food vendor in the gym?

Now that the number of possible venues has increased so dramatically over the year, I can think of so many lots that would be better with food. For example, casinos, any of the performance venues, the spa. I'm sure there are more.

Any help would be appreciated.

When you're building on a community lot, you get a special category in the build icons for Community objects.  There, you'll find the different registers.  One is a food register.  I'm not certain what foods it sells but it functions like the consignment register in that someone will show up to work it.  I set up a base camp using one of these for the restaurant part of the hotel, rather than trying to put a fridge and stove on the lot.

If you have seasons you could set up a concession stand. They sell a small variety of food and drink.

Actually, there has been a change where certain venues now provide a number of drinks that you previously only found at bars.    You can find that list here: http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Mixology.


If you place a register from WA on a community lot, the registers will not produce any country specific items.  You cannot get french fruits but they will serve meals like they do in the WA markets.
