How to post your entry?
When posting your entry you need to include all of the information that you would for uploading it normally to the Swap Shop. You need to share the details so that anyone downloading your entry will know about content and what they may need to know in terms of placement. It also tells us about how you met the specifications. We will need the following information:
House Name
Name of Contest, Or number
Price of the Lot
(Specifically the Furnished Value)
Content used in your Entry
(Expansions, Stuff Packs, Free Store Items etc.)
Description of your Entry
A Maximum of 10 Images of your Entry
(See the Rules Thread about Images)
A Link to the Download Thread
These details can really help show off your build, when describing your entry make sure to use that to give a good description of the entry as it may aid you in getting votes.
Where do the Entries get uploaded to?
All Entries must be posted in
two places
, the first place is in the Building Contest Board as a New Thread. The second place is in the Contests Thread, whichever contest you enter you post it in that thread, with a link to the Thread you posted earlier which contains the attached Download, the post you make in the Contest Thread does not contain a download.
For Picture Tutorials on how to upload your Lots for the Contests see this Thread -
Contest Tutorials
. For instructions on posting to the Swap Shop in general see this thread -
Uploading to the Swap Shop
Examples of how to enter the contests?
For good examples of how to post your Entries correctly please take a look at the Winners of the Contests so far. They can all be located in this thread here:
Building Contest Winners
. Their entries are all good examples of how to enter the contests.

Posting the Download Thread and Attaching the Entry
First of all you need to create a new Topic in this Board
(Building Contest)
Then name your Thread with the Contests Name or Number, followed by the name of your Entry. For example take Contest 2, so you would put
Contest 2, Beach Villa - Your Entrys name
.
Now you have to fill out your Post, shown on the image:
This is Lilygirl's entry to the first Contest and is a good example of how you should set out your Entry, with the relevant details.
Attaching the Download:
Click
Additional Options
, then select the
Browse...
option that has appeared.
Find your Exports Folder in your Sims 3 Folder, where you have installed the game.
Find the
.sims3pack
file of your Entry that you wish to upload, it should be named what you called it when the Share/Upload details opened in the game.
Now that your Post is all set up, click
post
.
Just double check that the Attachment is there, it should look something like this with the name of the
.sims3pack
changed and the file size.
You have now uploaded to the Swap Shop.

Linking between Threads
Since you need to link between the Swap Shop Thread (Shown Above) and to the Contest Thread so people can find the download if they want it, this will show you how.
First off, go to the Swap Shop Thread with the download, select the URL Web Address.
Now right-click it and select Copy.
Go to the Contest Thread, click Reply.
After filling out all your details of the Entry
(Exactly the same as the Swap Shop Thread Info, you can Copy and Paste that as well if you wish)
, right-click and select paste, a Web Address should appear.
If you click
Preview
, it should show you that the Link is working if it is now a blue colour, if you hover over it the cursor also changes.
That is how you link between Threads.

Uploading from the Game
You will need to enter Edit Town, you do so by opening the menu, or the
...
in the bottom left corner. The selecting the option of Edit Town.
This is Edit Town, and it also includes the Library, the button in the middle at the top of the Library are for the unoccupied homes you have built. If you saved your House to there then place it again or find it in this Save File and click on the option.
When you select it you get shown the Lots Details as well as options for it.
From here you can edit the details of the Lot, so the Name and Description.
What you do need though is the Share button, this will put the Lot in your Export file, which can then be uploaded.
You will get a notification that this will cancel current interactions for Sims, so if your Sim is at work they will stop, for example.
You also get another chance to edit those details again, what you name your Lot will be what the Export is called, bear that in mind so you know where to find it.
The game will then process your request to Upload and after possibly several minutes it should be finished.
When this pops up you are finished and can resume to the
Uploading the Download Thread and attaching the Download.
Tutorial.

Lot Value
This is a main part of the Contests, coming in under
or over
a budget. Where do you find this out? A Good place to find it is in Build Mode or when you try to move a Sim in, the most reliable is for when a Sim is moving in because there is a change in Lot Value, the price sometimes increases or decreases, so it's best to make sure you won't accidentally slip over the budget (
or under perhaps
) make sure your Lot has the right pricing!
In Buy/Build mode my House was worth $99,966 but when I tried to move a Sim in...
$99,885
! So beware and double check!
