Sims not "listening" to commands.
« on: May 30, 2013, 09:13:44 PM »
This is a pretty short one. Basically, when I direct my Sims to go do something, the icon pops up in the action queue for (literally) about a second, then disappears and they proceed to not do it. I had a similar issue in the same save file regarding going to work, but changing into the career outfit first seemed to help. I don't know what the solution could be this time. I tried restarting the game and my computer, I tried reset Sim. I can't really remember what else, but I feel like I must have done more than that... maybe not, as I can't even think of what else I might have tried. This is happening for all Sims in the same household, but does not appear to be an issue in other save files. By this point this particular saved game is really of quite massive proportions as it's been going on forever, but that can't be the issue, can it? People play for dozens of weeks (game time) with legacy files, and this particular household isn't quite that old.

SOS!

TIA.

Do you have mastercontroller installed? There's an option under there where you can reset the sim.

If not you can also do it manually through console command. Just press ctrl + shift + c and type: resetSim Firstname Lastname

The same thing happens to me from time to time. reset sim is really the only workaround i've found.

Thanks for the suggestion. Perhaps you missed it or maybe it was the way I worded it, but I did try resetsim to no avail. So if anyone else has any other bright ideas... :/

But really thank you anyway, jazz.

And no, I don't have mastercontroller. Ill think about installing it just to try if it is really necessary. This is my favorite family. Is resetting via mastercontroller any different than doing so manually or is it just a shortcut?

Oh my goodness, I am a royal idiot. The reason this problem kept happening was because I kept trying to send my sim into the garden where I had accidentally placed a lamp blocking the gate. I didn't realize it obviously, so I kept trying to get my sim to upgrade the sprinkler or just walk to the garden thinking that the sprinkler command was the issue, whereas really they just couldn't get in the gate.

Sorry! Problem solved. :: facepalm ::
