Is there a Grandfather clock?

In the Prima guide it says you can upgrade a Grandfather clock, I have yet to find one. I know The Sims 1 had 1 but I'm not sure about The Sims 3. I have heard that the Prima guide sometimes has errors but I wanted to make sure first.

I remember it said something like that. But as far as I know there in'sn't a grandfather clock in the game.
The only sim-game I remember a grandfather clock in is the Basegame of The Sims 1. See link.

There isn't a Grandfather Clock, I've been building a lot today and I have not seen one in the same tab as where the wall clocks/telephones are.

I'm fairly sure the Prima Guide is written when a game is being Beta Tested, so EA probably included a Grandfather Clock, the Prima people saw it and wrote it in, then EA removed it.

Possibly. There is no item ingame left that can be confused with whatever grandfather clock you may have in mind so total deletion of it a little time before release for whatever reason is highly possible.
