Plants stuck in harvest
« on: September 09, 2012, 09:24:45 PM »
Hello,

I'm having an issue with plants sticking on the harvest state after I harvest the first time. Has anyone seen this error or glitch before and have some advice on what I can do to fix it, or is there a mod out there that I can use to remedy this?

Welcome to the forum, Stumpy.  Can you tell us a little more about the problem - has it just started, is it occurring just in one game, and have you tried anything to fix it?  I know some people have been experiencing gardening problems since the most recent patch, but most of the reports I've read are about Sims stopping after harvesting just one item, so I don't know if anyone else is having the same problem as you or not.

First thing you need to do is resetSim * the whole world.   To do that, hit the buttons Control+Shift+C to pull up the panel and type in testingcheatsenabled true, hit enter.   Then pull up the panel and type in resetSim *, hit enter.  This is going to reset every Sim in your world.  If you're lucky it will reset every plant, too.   I actually had to use a unicorn to make the plant leave the harvest state.   The main problem is your gardening Sim probably has a blank plant collectibles page in your new collectible journal since the patch/EP.   The only thing that works to fix this right now other than a reinstall is twallan's overwatch mod.  You don't have to keep it in.  You can load your game once to get it corrected, save and then get rid of the mod if you want to.    You can find twallan's mods here.

This seems to be related to the recent patch 1.38 - it appears that anyone who had the Collecting "skill" prior to the patch got a glitch with the Plants tab in the new Collection Journal. Anyone whose plants tab is blank will reset every time they harvest a plant, leaving the plant in Harvest state but with no produce, and it never seems to fix itself on the active household's home lot.

Mostly people seem to have been grinning and bearing it, it seems, although there's been a report that a full reinstall cleared up the problem.

Thank you all for the fast and awesome responses.  The reset world didn't seem to reset the plants so I am running a complete reinstall. I'll be sure to let you all know on here if that works.

Thanks again.

computer ignorance question, doesn't reinstall delete all of my games?  Would I have to save them (all of my games) somewhere else?  :(

This is happening in my community garden that I am building to use in other games; will I still have the problem if I were to transfer this garden to other games (probably will)?  Or should I just wait to see if they have a patch later?

It shouldn't delete them, but saving them is simple enough: find your Saves folder (on Windows, it's Documents -> Electronic Arts -> The Sims 3 -> Saves) and copy or move it somewhere else. If you have any downloaded content from somewhere other than the Sims 3 Store, you might want to do the same with the Downloads folder. Then put those folders back when you've reinstalled.

I am getting plants stuck in harvest now, too. Does the latest patch fix that? The only plants that get stuck for me are the money trees, and it seems to be random how long it takes them to get stuck.

I also get only my money trees stuck. they seem to yield 2-6 harvests before becoming stuck in harvest mode.

Has there been a patch since 1.39?  That is when this all started for me.  I am not playing any games in my towns that have gardens, I am hopefully waiting for a patch.

So far no problems in MF, I have been collecting in others gardens throughout the town and have just started a community garden with all the new plants and have had no problem in collecting them.  Glad too, it is a good size garden.

Moving house fixes the problem, but I think I remember something about not being able to plant cheese/egg/burger/steak plants anymore if you move? I'm not moving my sim again until I have a nice garden full of them - readily available and never dying.

My game was running well before 1.39.  I didn't even have the too many zombies problem.  After I patched my game didn't have any zombies at all so I moved my Sim to a new game.  Starting the new game seemed to trigger something and I developed most of the SN glitches people have reported, including gardening.

I finally ditched everything and did a reset. It's back to running great again.
