Game doesn't launch properly
« on: October 21, 2011, 08:29:45 AM »
OK, my OS is Windows 64-bit and I have all the stuff packs and expansion packs installed.

Since installing Generations and now the Pets, I am having a weird little problem. Whenever I insert the Pets expansion pack (it was Generations before), there will be a message popping up which says:

"You currently have one or more expansion packs installed. UNINSTALLING the Sims 3 Pets may cause those expansion packs to no longer function correctly unless you update your game online via the Sims 3 Launcher. Do you wish to continue uninstalling the Sims 3 Pets?"

OK, the question is, I have already installed the Pets and updated my game but why is this message keep popping out? Do any of you guys experience this same problem? Of course, when I click no, the game just continues to run normally but this problem is getting into my head. How do I solve this?

Thanks!

You're positive you're running the Pets disk in your computer?  And launching with the correct Pets icon?  If you haven't already, try restarting your computer.  If it continues and you just can't live with it, you may need to reinstall Pets.  I wouldn't necessarily suggest a complete reinstallation yet, unless you haven't done so in quite awhile.  I also recommend that you keep your game and computer as clean as possible.  We have topics on this Technical Help board with instructions on how to do the various clean up routines.

One other thing.  Your subject for this topic is a little vague.  You'll get more help if you modify your first post and make the subject more specific to your problem.  It will also help keep our Forum organized and easy to browse.  I'd suggest something like "Game Doesn't Launch Properly".  Thanks much.

Yes, I am running the Pets disk. This problem actually appeared when I first started installing Generations a few months back.

I have the same problem. When I put the disc in the uninstal shield come up. I just say no and play. I had the same problem with the generations disc. It was fixed with town life stuff. I read somewhere more people have the same problem. Just say no and play.

I've had it happen a couple times but, I normally keep my disc in the drive so I'm not sure how often it would occur if I was consistently putting the disc in. When it did pop up I'd do the same thing as LoveSims, close the uninstall message and relaunch the game but not from the disc drive.

I had the same issue with my last laptop. The game would ask me about uninstalling. My workaround was to only eject the disc when I needed to - if I want to play Medieval, I eject. If I shut down, however, I don't eject. I never ejected it if I didn't need to - it was an issue with AutoPlay.

Pam said the only way around (that she could see) was to just say "no" to uninstallation.
