2012 ford focus glitch? (ps3)

I downloaded the 2012 ford focus for my sims 3 game on ps3. They would always take the new car to whatever location I picked (most of the time), but once I tell them to go home, they always took a taxi instead of driving their own car. Is the 2012 focus glitched?

I think it could be, it happens with other cars as well. I think that if you have more than one Sim outside at other lots, the first one to leave would have the car and the other Sim takes the taxi.

When I go into town I take one sim and leave the other at home. So the one sim I take into town should take the car to town and then back home, but they don't.

Is this happening with the cars that came with the game when used in the same file?

I'm not sure. This is the first car I've gotten in the game.
