Transfer relics to new household?
« on: March 11, 2010, 07:14:43 PM »
I played a family for a while who traveled a little, but only got one tomb symbol before I decided to switch active households. Now I am doing more serious traveling and collecting with my new family, but I can't finish my collection without the symbol my first family has.

Is there a way to transfer items across families? I would like to do it without using cheats, but I will use them if I have to.

I don't know if this will work.  You could try using the first family to set the relic outside on the lawn, then use the second family to pick it up.  I can't imagine it would really be that easy, though.

I don't think that would work unless you have a sim who's a klepto.  And even then I'm not sure because I've not played w/ that trait much.

That's a good idea though. I have enough opportunity points to change my traits, then switch back. I might give that a try. I haven't played klepto before, but I'm sure I could figure it out

put all the relics in one of their inventories, go into edit town mode, move them in with new family, put all relics in the new sims house, move them out again. You could use familyfunds to get their house back if you need too.

It turns out my first family had moved out of that house, and a different family I could not control had moved in to that house. So I evicted them, then moved my active family into my old house, took the relics I needed, then moved back. I have a lot of redecorating to do now, but at least I got my relics back.
Thanks for the suggestions all!

Brilliant idea. I'm thinking after France I'll add a list of all relic collections as a quick guide for what people are missing (with links directing them to what location/tomb). This would be a good little passage to include on that page.

When you moved the relics did the game properly credit you in the adventure journal for completing that collection?

I didn't look. I'll probably check on that tomorrow if I have time.

It did not update in the adventure journal, but my collection in the journal was a bit of a mess anyway because I had two sims in the same family adventuring, and it didn't always fill new relics in both journals. I think some of the unique relics might have shown up in both journals, but some didn't so I have no idea how this is supposed to work ???.

I put some relics and stuff into the treasure chest and left it out on the lawn, changed the active family and other sims from other families were able to visit that house and take or add stuff.  That's how I gave Death flowers and other things to several members of different families too.
