Is there any real point in saving the things you collect in tombs?  Unless you want to make a museum once the item shows up in your journal is there any reason not to sell it?  I know about the life time want to get a collection of a certain value, but once you have done that, why not sell the items?

There are collections you can try to complete in the adventure Journal, they can be decoration, add to your value, you can sell them.

There are also times when you get opportunities back home to bring common relics to school or work.  If you save some of them, you can easily complete the opportunity without making a trip abroad to get a new relic.

Thanks.  In one game I made a basement museum and I suppose I could store the stuff in the family inventory, but it seems to make more sense to save a few items and sell the rest, unless you want a collection of course.

I guess I'm a big pack-rat but I often find trouble selling things I make (such as fruits from my sims gardens and artifacts-such as this case-)
So whenever I have a frequent traveling sim I must have a treasure chest (mainly from France, I like the decoration of that one) to keep all of my gems and such in, though I never even think about them again I just can't bear to part with them for some reason. I say I get attached too easily. That's why I always need a back up actual career because I'm not a big fan of selling collections and stuff. I think they are too nifty. ;)

The relics you get in the tombs make GREAT fodder for the Display Table transmutes. 

If you are aiming for a specific value of goods to transmute, relics are a great way to make sure you get the nonstandard item instead of a fancy gem or fancy metal bar.

Should I make a thread for transmuting?  I have gone through it rather well and could write a guide of sorts to help people learn the tricks to making the most of it.

Yes write it up.  Can you transmute relics?  I know you can do gems.

For supernovium put bars on a large display stand and then click the option which looks funny.  ;)

You get compendium when you use 2, 3 or 4 different metal bars in your transmute.  It will total all the values, add 25% and make a compendium bar worth that amount.

Example...
You use a Supernovium bar worth 5,000
add in 7 silver bars worth 500 total

5000+500 = 5,500 x 1.25 = 6,875 simolean valued Compendium bar.

While it starts out kind of slow, you are ahead by 875 simoleans on this transmute (6,875 value - 5,500 materials - 500 transmute cost = 875 profit)  This amount will grow rapidly especially when you use higher value metals at the start.  I like going to France and collecting Titaniums to use for my early combines to get the values accelerating quickly.  There is also the smelting cost of $40 per ore / 320 per transmute, but that is a negligible cost.  In the long run if you figure 1,000 per transmute in costs you can see it's really cheap and hardly worth mentioning once you get the process going.


Another way to make sure you have the cashflow to work this process... Transmute a collection of gems AND metals that total between 3500 and 4999 in value.  You will get a uncut Tiberium as a result.  Let that grow into a Spire Cut Tiberium and you will have about 30,000 - 40,000 as seed capital to transmute with.

Also... the link above will take you to Carls guide on transmuting.  It has a lot of good info regarding this.  I have made suggestions on how to expand it slightly to cover the MIXED COMBINES like the gems + metals I mentioned above.  Hopefully that will be incorporated soon.

What if accidentally I deleted one part of the collection?
a)The tomb collections do not regenerate themselves, or so I've read - it's only logical since they're the memorabilia from completing specific locations. But if I moved to a new household I could look for that specific relic and then go back to the household, right?

b) I've been all over Egypt and still can't find the Statue of Ammit. Has anyone seen it at the relics vendor? Or where have come across it?
