What level do you need to be to be able to catch Angelfish?

My Sim is a level 5 fisherman, and a child.
I haven't played as a fisherman much, but I thought I was catching Angelfish earlier than level 5.

What level do I need to be on?
And does being a child affect what fish you can catch?

According to my sources (AKA my notebook of all things Sims 3 I need at my elbow) you need level 8 fishing to catch Angelfish. That being said, if your Sim has Alley Catfish to use as bait, Angelfish may be caught before level 8 fishing.

I'm not sure what level you need but a fisherman I'm playing has just caught his first angelfish at level 5.  It took a while, but if you have alleycatfish, it's definitely possible.  As far as I know, it shouldn't make any difference if the sim is a child.

At level 5 you get to use live bait so then you have more chances. Once my sim got deathfish at level 6 and I read that it is possible even at level 5, so you definitely should be able to catch angelfish with less skills.

I think I must have just been using the Alleycat Fish as bait and caught an Angelfish at level 5 in my previous game.

Yes, it's entirely possible to catch Angelfish and Deathfish at level 5 by using bait.  You just don't catch them as quickly as you do at higher levels.

Bait makes your Sim able to catch valuable fish before they would be able to normally.
