Foal with Level 5 Racing?

I had a Foal born to my Mare and the Foal had Level 5 Racing. When he aged up. Not as a Foal. Was it because his Mother was high Racing (She maxed after he was born) or is it because of his Fast Trait or maybe because he just ran around as a Foal? I'm just curious as to how he got these 5 Skill Points.

It could also be because he galopped a lot when he was a foal.
My two foals got the fast trait just like that, so it's a possibility.

But I'm not completely sure because when they grew up they had the racing skill almost maxed too but one of them had the jumping skill as well 

And they can't jump when they are foals so who knows how it really happens ...

I think it must be an influence from the Parent as well, thats where Selective Breeding comes into real life, they breed fast horses with fast horses to get a faster horse, although sometimes it doesn't work.

Agree, but that should mean having an influence on the traits, fast, agile and so on.
And maybe the speed they learn skills, but not the level of the skill itself.

Do you have the race training poles? I've seen my horses (foals included) using them without being told to. Maybe he had been practicing racing and you just hadn't noticed.

Yes I did have the Poles but his Mother was using them with my Sim riding her for most of the time, the Foal was always peeing and chasing the cats.

One of my foals, after she aged up to adult, was maxed out on racing. She had the fast trait, daddy was maxed out, mommy level 5. She did run around as a foal, but not particularly often.
Other foals of mine have gotten to level 3 racing, but I was really surprised when I found out that she was maxed out, it was awesome!

Mine did, He was in level 7 when he aged up and he did gallop around WAY to much. I once found him on the other side of town!
