Horses can teleport?
« on: October 20, 2011, 11:25:21 PM »
If not teleport, at least disappear from right in front of you!  My Sim has been following a wild horse with the "watch" feature.  Followed it all day.  I guess the horse got tired of it because all of a sudden in the middle of a park area with sculptures of all wild animals, it disappeared.  Just zap! Gone!

Is there a faster way to establish a relationship with a wild horse?

Now, was the Horse in question a Unicorn? They can teleport. Otherwise I'm stumped for what happened, and without Pets, I have no suggestions.

I don't know about Teleporting but it probably just disappeared back to its "home". Sort of like homeless NCPs. It'll probably show back up again.

As for a faster way to build a relationship with a horse, none that I know of.

I have had the best luck using "watch" several times until they are about half way to friends. Then I will start trying some of the other options, feeding carrots, letting it sniff my hand, pet, rub neck. The horse will refuse sometimes or let me do and and run off, but it doesn't seem to drop the relationship any that I've seen. Once they are friends you get the adopt option but the horse will still sometimes refuse until you are best friends even.

Thanks everyone!  ATM I'm learning the equestrian skill so maybe that will make it easier.

No, it wasn't a unicorn, it was a horse.  The rest of the herd stayed there.

Has anyone else seen a ghost horse?  Glintz2.0 is his name.  There is a live Glints3.0.  2.0 looks like it might be a foal and it died by fire.  Sad.

My Sim's cat, Pepper AngelCat, was chasing and sniffing a raccoon in the driveway of their home when the raccoon suddenly transported away.  It had all the special effects of a Sim transporting.  This is the only time I've seen it so far.

Ok, that basically confirms it for me then, Pam.  They can just teleport away.  I had my Sim watch that horse for a full Sim day, and it wasn't easy keeping up with him.  Guess the critters just get fed up with our antics and leave!

I had this happen myself -- my Sim was following a deer to Watch it, when she just stopped.  I paused the game and went looking for it (she had a want I had promised to her to "Watch a Deer", and was pretty short on Lifetime Reward Points, so I really wanted that 400 points!) but the deer was just gone.  I think they spawn and despawn every so often, just like the wild horses do.  The only difference is that the wild horses seem to be the exact same individuals every time (I've played a few different games in Appaloosa Plains, and every time the horses are different, but they stay consistently the same each time for each game).  The wildlife doesn't matter, so it's a new raccoon or deer every time you see it.  I only wish we could feed deer in our backyards, like people do in real life!

As for the teleporting thing, I saw the same thing happen with my horse.  I had just adopted her, and she was about to have a birthday, only my Sim was rubbing her and there wasn't enough room between the Sim and the fence to do the twirling age-up thing, so she literally teleported to the other side of the fence.  Sound effects and visual effects and all!  It startled me, and made me a little mad (I keep my horses neatly inside their fence), but was interesting at the same time.

I was watching a Deer and it just vanished on someones lot, just blinked away. You can use testingcheats to raise the relationship bar once your Sim has the Horse in their relationship panel. Trust me to know that.  :P
