Questioning/Interviewing on Vacation
« on: March 08, 2010, 09:00:26 AM »
Does anyone know if you can Question (Police career) or Interview (Journalism) locals while on vacation? I was thinking that would be a nice way to boost those metrics in the career challenge, but was assuming those two things might be limited to the home town.

Well, I found out for myself. It would appear those two Socials are not an option while vacationing. That was my guess. I sent my 2 challenge Sims on vacation to build skills in their current and upcoming careers, and that would have been the icing on the cake. Oh, well. Makes sense. Why would the Sunset Valley Police Department be interested in a detailed report on a book merchant in China?  :D

It appears that anything work-related (other than skill development) doesn't work on vacation.  One of my sims had an opportunity to read a book for work and I had him read it while in China.  When he returned to work he got no credit for it - I had to have him read it again at home.

Well, here's a new wrinkle: Jane Kah-Rear, my female Sim in the challenge, just got a wish to Interview a friend of hers and he lives in China. Those kinds of wishes may just be a random thing the game does and the Sim's location obviously must not factor into it because during her last vacation the Interview option never came up under the Friendly selections of Socials.

What if you invite them to your sims house?

Good question. That would probably work since the foreign friend would then be in the home town
