I get this problem a lot in Riverview, and I have a similar problem in Barnacle Bay, too.  Only when it "pauses" in Barnacle Bay, it never unpauses.  Both of these are caused by overloaded worldcache packages.

I make a habit of deleting the worldcache packages every time I plan on playing in either of those worlds now, and I don't have problems there anymore.  But as I've never seen a worldcache package for Bridgeport, I doubt it's the same problem.  I don't play there much, because it takes forever to get anywhere thanks to the subway.

Decided to join this forums, as it seems to be one with many interested in helping, and in particular, this 'glitch' or whatever it is.

I've been searching and searching, to no avail. Has anything been said and or done about this yet? Is there any progress player-wise to possibly bypass this in anyway?

If you're talking Mods, you're not going to find any here.  This forum has a strict anti-mod policy, as they are notoriously dangerous to your game, and a lot of users here don't and won't use them.  I fall into that category as well.

Nothing has been said or done by EA as far as I know (i.e. no recent patches of note), and outside of this thread, there's not much else that can be done as far as I'm aware.

But welcome to the forum anyways.

I found I have this issue too - but I had it before WA as well. In Sunset Valley, as everyone else has described: pausing or choppy game play with things like snoring "zzz's" and telephone vibrations moving at a normal pace.
I'll be interested if anyone has a solution.

And welcome to the forum Mdiddy.

No fix yet. But that doesn't surprise me considering EA's reticence on fixing bugs and glitches. They tend to have the "some people have no problem, so we won't bother doing anything" approach.

Annoying, but there's enough to entertain me without needing to go to China.

I started noticing my game doing this in the last couple of days.  I have looked over everyone's suggestions and I noticed that it was indeed areas where Sims get stuck.  Unfortunately these areas are very popular so expect to have to resetSim a lot.  In China, the bug seems to happen in Hot Springs.  I noticed it when attempting a challenge that I failed this weekend.  The Sims in my game don't want to use the stairs to get out of the Springs.  They want to just run up the side of the mountain which of course they can't do.  Another spot I've noticed is in Twinbrook.  There seems to be a problem with pathing in that little park on the river across from the Central park.  I can't think of the name of it as right now, sorry :(  I hope this helps you at least find the Sims just in case you don't want to reset your Sims too with resetSim * Which is how I was feeling because I'm in the middle of a challenge!

Hope this might help.  Otherwise I'm not sure it can be fixed without EA's help.

I've just read through this thread as I'm having some major problems with the pausing every couple seconds glitch in China. I've had a similar issue before where the game will pause for a few seconds, the sims pause as well as the time but the background scenery carries on (such as water ripples etc). But this was a rare occurance. However my sims are now in China and it's hapening every three seconds or so, which, as you can imagine, makes gameplay impossible. I have all EPs and SPs installed, no mods and no cc. I have only just installed OL.

So, is it pathing issue in China with sims congregating in an area that is the issue? Or is it a different matter? I've already tried re-starting the game a couple times and that hasn't helped. I've also had a look at the save games folder and I have no badpackage file.

I'm really hoping somebody has a solution as this is a challenge game (Flight of the Starship Crescent), China is the last world for me to upgrade, and I'm not doing to badly. So I'm really hoping that I don't lose the game as otherwise I'm out of the challenge.

I'm not sure that the pathing issues or the congregating sim phenomenon are what's causing the problems in China.  I've never had pathing issues at the hot springs or anywhere else in China, nor have I ever seen sims congregating anywhere in China like they occasionally do at home (and for me, this has only ever happened once, and it was a long time ago).  So while it seems similar to that problem, I think the actual cause is something else entirely.

One common thread seems to be opened tombs, although I'm not sure why this would happen in China and not Egypt.  But for the most part, it looks like this happens later in the family's traveling/tomb looting careers.

However, these are only observations from what was said here.  In reality, I don't know why this happens any more than anyone else does.

This may be a bit harsh but why not delete places such as Hot Springs to avoid the lagg? I get it too. I didn't have it before Generations and now I do in Hidden Springs. I don't want to start a new game :/ I hope EA bothers with a solution.

There is also pathing issues in Twinbrook for the center park on the water across from central park.  Some of these things can't be deleted to get rid of the pathing issues or would cause worse ones.  And then there are people who have games where edit town isn't allowed for challenges and the like.  ResetSim seems to be the best thing or if you're in china and notice it, go to that lot and reset whoever you see there.

Seems legit. I'll try that and if it fails I'll move. Since I don't have Pets Bridgeport and Riverview seem like the only solutions.

Edit
As I said in an another thread - moving to a new town didn't change the problem.
