What happens to ghost townies?
« on: January 04, 2012, 05:06:48 PM »
I recently found out how to make playable ghosts with the science lab, and I also found out that if I kick out a playable ghost, that ghost remains in the neighborhood as a townie who can do story progression, etc. (I had a ghost baby who I kicked out after she grew up, and she went on to marry a townie and have kids with him.)

Since then I've been wondering: 1) does the ghost townie return to the netherworld eventually? and 2) if so, does that ghost townie's urn/gravestone show up somewhere in town, or is the ghost gone forever after that?

You know, I'd never even considered that before! Very good question, am interested to see the answers from the wise ones! :)

Yeah! Come to think of it, I don't actually know what happens to normal townies when they die either.... Edit: Actually, from posts that I found on here, it seems that their graves all get sent the mausoleum in the graveyard. Maybe ghost townie graves end up there too.

When an inactive sim dies, one of two things happens :
1) If the sim has been marked as "Protected", then an urnstone is created for the sim, and that object is added to a mausoleum in town
2) If the sim is not "Protected", the game deletes them to conserve space

Sims are marked as "Protected" when you actively play them.  The same flag is used by EA Story Progression to govern whether the sim can be emigrated or kiled by the system.

----

If a playable ghost "returns" to the netherworld, the urnstone is removed from their inventory and placed on the ground where they perished.

However, if the object could not be placed on the ground, it is immediately removed from the game and destroyed.
