Gardening on The Sims 3 for PS3

Hello, I'm new to this site.

I've been playing The Sims 3 for awhile, and just learned how to garden but can't seem to make a perfect plant so I can get a trophy. Anyone have ideas? I'm trying my best to look for good quality seeds, and grow vegetables that are close to perfect, just to see if I can grow the vegetables and see if it will grow into a perfect plant. Do I need to max my skill?

Welcome to the forum, BrookieCookie.  To get perfect quality plants can take a while.  You need to keep planting the best fruit from your harvests, and gradually you will get better quality plants.  In the PC version of the game (the only one I'm familiar with), it helps if your Sim has the Green Thumb trait and the Super Green Thumb LTR.

I'm aware of the green thumb trait, but what if you don't have it? I don't really want to make a new character and start off all over again.

They don't have to have it to be a good gardener, but it helps

Thanks for the help. I finally got it! It's not that easy, and it's not that hard either. Just keep gardening and eventually you will grow a perfect plant. Though that isn't how I got the perfect plant, I was rummaging through someones garbage and the threw out a perfect grape, so I planted it. Found the easiest way to grow a perfect plant.

P.S. If you want to grow a perfect plant like me, you first need to be high in the Journalism career so you can rummage. When you rummage, you can look in your inventory and see what you all found in the garbage.

you can now make your gardening easier by buying a sprinkler and upgrading it to auto-water

Or you can just leave the sprinkler on all day.

Does leaving the sprinkler on affect the amount of money one pays in bills?

I don't think that it affects it, and if it does it is only by a small amount.

There is also the Lifetime reward for Super Green Thumb, I know its in Sims 3 pets, not sure about Sims 3. I actually didn't know about Lifetime rewards till I got Sims 3 pets (I only rented the 1st one for a week though) I know if you keep gardening your best crops, you can get a perfect plant, along with raising your Sims skill.
