How do you uninstall a patch?

When I installed the last patch, I lost the ability to fish using bait.  I'd like to try my game again without this patch and see if I can fish with bait again.  I've heard that you can uninstall a patch by reinstalling the game.  When I reinstall my first expansion, it tells me that the base game needs to be updated before I can install it.  If say that this is okay, I seem to get updated to the current patch.  Does anyone know the specific details of how to install the expansions with the patches up to the last patch?

You can try with System restore maybe? Aussette suggested that to me once, and it did work, so it may save you from all the reinstalling.

I think it is not updated up to the latest patch, but to the point where that EP was released - with Generations you'll get the 1.22 update, with Town Life Stuff Pack - 1.24 etc You will get that notification with each new EP or SP you want to install (if you install them in order they are released).

I read on official forum that fishing is bugged with Pets, so it is already registered bug - no fishing with baits and some fish are invisible when Sim catch them.

Looks like it didn't work as well for me as it did for you.  I did a system restore and now I can't open The Sims at all.  I wonder what went wrong.

Edit:  We managed to undo the system restore, but the other restore point I wanted to try was knocked off the list.  We downloaded something that had the ability to patch my computer up to the last patch, and then reinstalled The Sims 3 + expansions with the computer disconnected from the internet, and patching with the previously downloaded patch.  After this, my sims were able to use bait again.
