Dogs & Cats Problem!!!

I just installed my game yesterday and it seems that my dogs and cats have glitches?  the fur is see through and the faces seem distorted and the eyes are unusual, I wasn't sure if there was anyone on here who had a similar problem and have worked out how to fix it?

I uploaded it on my new Macbook Pro which i've only had for 2 months or so so its not that i have an old computer or thats it out of date or slow, and it seems to only be the cats and dogs that are affected my horses are absolutely fine, if someone could get back to me asap it would be greatly appreciated!

I've had the same problem, as well. I think it's just a graphical glitch, but I'm not sure out to fix it. Anybody have any fixes?

It stopped when I went into the options while in the game and clicked on restore default settings. It stopped the semi invisible fur on the dogs. That's all I checked, but then obviously the rest of the quality of the graphics suffer so you have low detail Sims and lots etc, which isn't what I really want. Then, when I try and put all the settings on high it just goes completely schitzo and just has a white screen with all the little purple house and lot buttons etc, so I really don't know what to do :/

When you change graphic settings, you always need to make sure to restart the game before trying anything.  I would suggest putting just your Sim Detail lower as that probably directly correlates with the pets.  This is actually a well known problem from when Pets came out and I'm not sure there ever really was a fix because I think it has something to do with your graphics card and the game.

Yeah, when I turned all the graphics up high, it went white. Yhen I restarted it like the game told me to and it was still white when it came back on. That's probably a good shout playing with just the Sim detail. I just wish there was a fix because its so frustrating waiting for a game for such a long time and then finally getting it and there being something wrong with it. On a mac laptop, I'm not sure how to fiddle with the graphics card or what it even is. I know Ii have one cause the guy that sold it to me said I already had one in there?

Right, Rica.  It's an issue with the graphics card not being powerful enough to handle the game properly.  The game requirements went up when Pets was released.

Well I have pets and ambitions installed. If I uninstall ambitions, would that help?

You said you have a fairly new laptop and the guy told you you had a decent graphics card, right?  If that's true, then you're most likely just one of the people who has a graphics card that isn't completely compatible with Pets.  There are still problems going on since the game is becoming more graphics intensive with each new expansion.  There are a lot of threads on the official Mac forums that talk about it.   

To find out your exact graphics card, click on the apple symbol at the top left of your screen and choose "About this Mac."  Then hit the "More Info.." button.   Look for the word "Graphics" and it should say right there what it is.  For instance, the one in my old Mac is a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS.

That's what he said yeah! When I looked up what you told me to, it just said this "Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB". I don't know what it means, but it doesn't sound like what you said? I don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm British and I don't hear graphics card used here? I don't know if that's relevant at all.

It's definitely your graphics card causing the problem and it won't matter if you uninstall Ambitions as it's the graphics card's problem with Pets.  I'm not very technical but I know that the 384 MB at the end of the Graphics line means that your graphics card only has low memory for itself.  Unfortunately, if you want your pets to look normal, you're going to need your settings lower or just let your pets be distorted and play that way.  It's your choice.
