Awesome updates! Iris is very cute :)

Thank you! :) I think Iris is the best looking toddler I've ever had.

Going to do the second challenge in the tournament, so may not write as much the next couple days.

A Bad Prom
« Reply #16 on: January 04, 2012, 11:44:41 PM »
Finally, the day comes. Iris has asked me if I'll teach her to drive. I'm tempted to say no, but we do have that old Jalopy that Chris drives, and she'll need to learn sooner or later. So, we leave. It's stop and go for awhile until she's start to get more confident, and I feel as if I'm going to be sick. It seems like hours have gone by when I tell her it's time to go home. She's disappointed, but I don't think I can stay in the car any longer.

Upon arriving home, I ask Chris to come out and watch the stars with me. It's something we did when we were younger, and I've felt so distant from him lately. We're quiet as we look up at the beautiful lights in the sky, and I can't say that I've ever been happier. Even after all this time, I'm so very in love with my husband, and couldn't imagine my life with anyone else. He's given me my daughter and a chance at immortality, and I don't know how to thank him.

"Have you ever thought of having another child?" He asks quietly, and I look over at him. For a moment, I'm sad. I had thought of having another child, but I know that right now I need to be focused on my career, and we had hardly any money at all until I received an inheritance from some dead aunt or something.

With a sigh I lean over and whisper into his ear, "Not now, Chris, but someday, yes, I would like to have another child with you," and it's true. Each day I feel myself getting older, and I do want another before it's all said and done. Hopefully, I won't  be so into my career that I forget.

I finally finish teaching Iris to drive, and, relieved to never have to be in the car with her again, I give her the keys to the Jalopy.

"What?" Her eyes wide, she practically screams with excitement, "You're giving me the car?"

I only smile and watch as she immediately takes off. As always, I wonder where she's going.

Later, she tells me that she's met a boy, and she's thinking of asking him the prom that's Tuesday. His name is Emilio Curran. I've never heard of the boy, but I trust my little girl to have a good sense of character, and hope she doesn't end up getting hurt.

During the next few days, she's happier than I've ever seen her, and I truly believe she might be falling for this boy. I'm so very happy for my daughter, and wish her the best with him.

On her way to school, I see Iris staring out the window, the way she did before she met this boy. I hope beyond hope that he didn't break her heart.

When she arrives home, I'm quick to ask what's bothering her.

"Well... Emilio had his birthday yesterday, and the school won't let him come to prom with me, but I want to go. I just have no one else to go with."

This makes me feel sympathy for my little girl. She's so beautiful, and yet she has to go to this dance alone.

"I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time anyways," I tell her.

The day comes, and she rides in the limo we've rented for her. I've never seen someone so perfect in my entire life, and I wave to her as she makes her way towards the school.

When she comes home, Iris runs to her room, and doesn't say a word to me. I find out from another parent that the poor girl was denied a dance, got into a fight, and saw a girl wearing the same dress as her. It was a terrible night for her, and yet when I walk into her room to check on her, I see her prom picture on her desk. My little girl might be stronger than I thought.

Right now my laptop won't stay on long enough for me to play, so I've ordered a new one. It's supposed to come in in a couple weeks, after it does I will be posting as I did before :)

Remembering

We don't have another child. I grow older, much to my disgust, and find that my entire life has passed me by while I was trying to achieve immortality.

I remember the days where I would run around the garden, playing with the sprinkler.

I remember when I saw my daughter happy again with another boy.

I remember how I saw them growing closer each day.

I remember when we finally saved up enough money to  buy my beloved Summer Springs.

I remember my daughter's birthday.

And the pictures she sent me from  her trip to Simla.

I remember it all, and I will cherish it forever. Tomorrow, I become immortal.
