Any way to stop car pooling?
« on: January 30, 2010, 06:11:31 PM »
Hey hey, I was just curious, I've looked around, and I dont know if it's that I'm slow, or there really isn't anything for this but,

is there any way to stop carpooling, at least for my adults? I'd rather them just drive themselves to work and school, and I see kids riding their bikes to school and I wanna do that too T~T

Lol, but thanks =)

If you send them to work/school after or before the carpool arrives, they'll use their own vehicles. You'll still get a carpool honking in front of the house tho, even if the sim is already at work/school.
To completely disable them you'd need to use mods.

That's why I never wasted my time with cars. In Sims 2, when they bought a car the carpooling stopped, and they even had animations for the car pulling out into the road. Now in Sims 3 the carpool still arrives, and when they finally do use it the car just disappears from the driveway and into the road.

What I do is just cancel the action, or have them do something before the carpool arives (like painting) so the carpool action is queued, but not executed right away. then, I cancel and click the "Go to Work" button in the career panel and they should drive their own car if you have your own car set as "Preferred". Or, if I have a teleporter, I use that  ;D

Wouldn't it take that child forever to get to school vs. riding the bus?

I think if your sim uses your car frequently enough then the carpool may stop or the sim atuomatically uses their own car.

Doesn't happen. Carpool always comes.
The best one can do is cancel carpool and order the sim to go to work either before the carpool arives or through the sim's car. Still, it wont save you from a whole sim hour of honking.

Besides, not carpooling isn't eco-friendly!  Isn't that what I was told about letting my sprinklers run 24 hours a day?  Hehe.

It is if you use a bicycle instead. ;)

I wonder if they will ever make an eco-friendly trait

I feel like when certain traits are combined they should make new traits. Like "loves the outdoors" plus "frugal" is Eco friendly. Or "slob" plus "natural cook" lets you make new plates of food out of spoiled leftovers. Gross, but appropriate for those 2 traits.

A discussion of traits doesn't belong in a car pooling thread.
