Mood Meter
« on: October 11, 2011, 04:56:19 PM »
Hey there.
I'm a bit new in the Sims 3, and I started my second game. It's a guy there is working his way to be a rockstar and he is doing great, but his mood is always miserable no matter what I do. When I look in his wishes there is nothing to make him sad. What am I doing wrong?
Hope you can give me some tips.

Well, does he have the Grumpy trait? That trait will always lower the mood of Sims. If he doesn't, maybe the moodlets he has are putting him in a bad mood.

If the sim's needs are on green, there is no negative moodlets and he's still miserable, it's most propably the "cheap bed" bug. I have it every time I start a new game.

There's a bug in the game that causes the mood to drop if your sims sleeps several nights in a cheap bed. It's easily fixed either buy buying a better bed (the quality is either +, ++ or +++, I think it's only the lowest quality that causes the bug) OR if you don't have the simoleons, just save your game and reload it. The mood will be back to where it should be for the time being.

Well, I just think it was a bug with my game because I restarted the game and now it works properly. So my bad.

I think I must always get the 'good bed' bug. After playing for a while my sims' moods will stay elated even with no moodlets at all. It seems a shame to quit when I'm getting a free good mood :)

The thing to look for when buying a bed is to own a bed that will give you at least +25 Well Rested moodlet.   The actual dynamics of the bug is that if you have a cheap bed, you get the +10 well rested and then when the 8 sim hours is up -25 is subtracted from your mood instead of -10.  And this accumulates every day.  At this point, I just try to give all my Sims a nice bed.  However, this bug was supposed to be fixed with the Town Life patch so make sure your game is completed patched up as well.

It definitely sounds like that cheap bed bug the others are talking about.  If you don't want to or can't afford to buy a new bed, you'll just have to save and re-start your game whenever you see the mood meter is in the miserable range.
