To play Pirates/Nobles, must uninstall Medieval?

This makes zero sense to me.

My daughter and I bought Sims Medieval and Pirates and Nobles. I assumed Pirates and Nobels was an expansion and would just piggyback on Medieval.  My daughter first played Medieval, then installed Pirates/Nobles. Now, to play Medieval again, her computer told her to uninstall Pirates and Nobels.

I'm confused.  Help!

Hi MrsCatHead and welcome to the forum.

May I ask which launcher you're using? Do you click on the icon that says "The Sims^TM Medieval", or "The Sims^TM Medieval: Pirates and Nobles"?

You always launch with the most recently released title. So when The Sims Medieval EP2 comes out, you'll use that icon to launch it.
