Need to delete a clothing item - how to do it?
« on: October 21, 2011, 02:00:09 PM »
I searched for answers to this, but couldn't find any.

When I downloaded a Sim from the exchange, one of them came with a modified long sleeve shirt that makes it to where Sims can wear it instead of being nude while they shower. However, so can babies and children. But when the babies and children wear it, it replaces there heads. So it looks like there is deformed monster walking around. Also, the shirt has "built in" breasts that are still there when guys wear it. More and more sims in my game are wearing this stupid thing... Any idea on how to delete just the one shirt? I don't even know what Sim came with it. I downloaded 10 in one day and it came with one of those.

Thanks ahead of time for any help you can offer. :)

Hi Sakura, welcome to the forum!

Although the forum has a rule about no descussion of CC, I'll be happy to answer your question. You need to go to your launcher, and click on installed content. You need to then scrolll down and find the t-shirt, and tick the box next to it. Then, press Uninstall at the bottom, it should be problem solved  ;D

Oh my, I'm sorry! I lurk here all the time, but sometimes I am ignorant of the rules. ^^;

What does CC mean? Also, thank you so much. I am going to do that now. I play the Sims daily and this glitch was driving me batty.

Edit: I have been digging through everything for quite some time now and I still can't find it. Very upsetting. Ugh.  :-\

CC = custom content.  It refers to items made by anyone that is not EA or EA-affiliated.  So things you would have downloaded from T-mobile or Dr Pepper are not CC but things like the shirt you're referring to is considered CC.

You'll have to go through your entire installed list on your launch to try and get rid of it.  If you cannot find it, i would suggest looking up crincrit's list to see if has a false image on the launch.  Crincrit's list and bug threads are on the official Sims 3 Forums.  He's very helpful and has a website that can also help you.

The only other thing that can be suggested is to uninstall the Sim that the shirt came with.  It may be a part of the Sim's packaging and therefore, that would be the only way to get rid of it.

I had the same experience last year with CC. I downloaded a sim from Exchange board and the sim came with CCs. I got a lot of baby monsters in Sunset Valley. The answer is quite simple.

The reason you got a kid monster is because that CC is actually more for young adult but it was also set to children's wear too. So how to solve this out is..

Open the launcher.

Go to the installed contents tab.

Scroll down and find the everyday clothing with tiny special mark like W..?
Most of the CCs come with very small 'w' mark on the thumbnail.
And they look a little bit different to the store items.
Especially, the items haven't set it's object or wears on launcher and they mostly make problems.
All the store contents are set as everyday wears,objects,hair...like this.
Then you will find it. Select it and uninstall it. Then finished.

Since that time, I don't use CC stuff any more. :(
Very hard to be escaped from Sims.

Not all cc has a W mark on it.  Only those made with a particular program.

If you downloaded the cc with a sim, it may not appear in your Launcher.  As future advice, if you are going to download sims, best to choose package I mean .sim files or library files and not Sims3packs.  The Exchange is not the best place to choose either.  I am sure there are many talented and clever people that create there but there are some careless or ignorant people as well.

You could try deleting the sim, as Ricalynn suggested.  You may get lucky.  Otherwise, you probably will be better off just getting rid of all items in your DCCache and downloading your store items again.

Just for the record, asking a question like this is not a forbidden subject.  When we say no discussion of CC, we mean no links or mentions of specific sites.  We're happy to help with a situation like this.

A lot of us have had this problem and learned the hard way about downloading items from the Exchange.  It's just very risky because you never what's going to infect your game.  Also, I doubt that deleting the Sims will fix the problem.  Once it was installed, the shirt became installed on its own.  That's why it randomly shows up on different Sims.  I suggest you continue looking hard through the list from the launcher until you find it, or delete everything and start over.

That's the good idea. Actually, I forgot this way. It happened long time ago. :)
