Can not install sim from exchange

I keep getting the message 'Unable to connect to the EA Download Manager.'
When I want to install a sims family from the exchange I got this message: 'Requires a software update. Please make sure your game has the latest Software Updates. Done!'

But I can not update when my game can not connect to the EA Download Manager I assume. How can I fix this?

Have you downloaded the store content patch? That's the only thing I can think of.

I have downloaded it, yes. Good thing you've mentioned that but after trying it again I still didn't get it work.

No, at least not that I am aware of. Can you tell me how I should do that?

Hmm… my dad kinda did it for me but I think you need to open Orgin and there should be a pop up saying that there is an update available. Then you just click yes or whatever.

No, it's not that, cause I did it with him and we didn't go online at all. It was just straight through the shortcut on the desktop.

Download the latest version of Origin from here:
http://www.origin.com/about

Just double-click to install; I think it will check if an older version needs updating and do that if needed.

I have been getting that message for months now, but it doesn't seem to hurt anything, so I am not quite sure why I keep getting it.  After updating Origin, I was finally able to download the 1.24 patch that came out a few weeks ago.

Just in case you're not aware...  Origin is the replacement for the EA Download Manager.  You'll see the term being used throughout the Sims 3 and EA sites.  Also, please be careful about downloading Sims from the Exchange.  You're at risk for getting third party custom content that could cause you trouble with the game.

About the Origin I wasn't aware of or I've simply forgotten it. For Exchange stuff I was going to download from a pretty well respected person called Ausette. I think we can trust her.
