Bringing sims back to life?

  So, I read that the laboratory asks you if you want to bring your sim back to life, but they haven't done that for my sim, What am I doing wrong?? I put the tombstone in the yard with a candle. Its been three sim days.  :\

It takes a while sometimes but it normally does happen, it's just a random event really. I think it comes under Special Opportunities so keep that slot free/clear/empty of any other Opps just to increase the chance.

You could be waiting a long time. It is one of those random things that come up and like Shamoht said you should make sure you have an opportunity slot open for it.

I've gotten it (in my dynasty lol) before anyone in my household dies. It was probably foreshadowing because one of the spouses died a couple days later.

That's weird, I thought that you could only get it if someone already died?

You also get it when a friend die

I sometimes gotten that opportunity to most of the members in a family. Which meant I had a family of three with 2 ghosts and one living Sim.
Then when she died I let the other two return to the underworld.

According to the wiki you are more likely to get the opportunity if you have a high relationship with the sim that died. I have tried this and got the opportunity within 24 hours, twice in a row (different games). Both times they were newly-wed.
