Changes for Kleptos

It would seem that EA has snuck some changes in for the Kleptomaniac trait.  Your Klepto Sim can no longer steal from the fitness gym, or any other public lot as far as I can tell.  The option simply doesn't appear.  I wanted to swipe a nice piece of exercise equipment, but it never came.  The only things mine could steal were items that were outside at a private lot.  Like cars, grills, etc.  That means that stealing nectar making machines won't work.  Maybe the issue of things being gone from the public lot after a Sim stole it presented more of a problem after all, so they just changed it.

I've also noticed that, but figured it was a minor issue since you can still steal from others' homes.

With the last patch (or maybe 1.7), you have to be invited to a lot, or at least greeted by someone on that lot to steal something. I know this because when I used AM (I don't anymore because of the challenges) they fixed that "issue" where you had to be greeted, therefore only on a residential lot could you steal something.

You can steal things from a residential lot without being greeted as long as the items are outside.  My Sim got two nice cars, a clock, a grill, and a dishwasher that way.

I've put a sink outside when I was doing the "Make Perfect Hotdogs" quest.  If a particular family is fond of having cookouts on the patio, having a dishwasher out there doesn't seem all that crazy to me.

Well that makes sense now! I was playing last night and one of my teen sims brought home a boy from school. As she was getting to know him, she found out he was a klepto. I had noticed that the car wasn't in the driveway anymore and thought, "Where is the car?"  I looked in everyone's inventory since everyone was at home and no one had the car. So I guess this kid stole their car!

I am sorry if i am wrong, but when I was playing in Riverview, my keptomaniac Sim stole a lightpost from the park.

I am sorry if i am wrong, but when I was playing in Riverview, my keptomaniac Sim stole a lightpost from the park.

Which patch was this in?

Okay, the latest patch. I believe it is 1.7

I could be mistaken and I am sorry if I am wrong.

It might be the inside of public lots that's restricted.  A park isn't inside, but I'll check it some more with my current Klepto.

Ive only ever had one Klepto sim but he was very fun, but that was before the patch and I never was really able to steal from community lot (Gym) anyway? It was after midnight but before 5 no-one was around and the option didn't show up... It was probably a glitch but anyway..

They should make a total value max of stealing not a 3 item thing, especially when there is a lovely laptop surrounded by 5 curtained windows and your sim takes the curtains...

Klepto was fun until they killed it by not allowing stealing in community buildings. No more raids on the museum, bleh. What's the use of being a thief if you can't thief?
