It comes from the Department of Cyber Security, I believe.  They send something to your Sim's computer to break it because you're hacking.  It's easily repaired, though.

Has anyone made any real money from hacking?  I've heard claims that it can be a great income, but I haven't seen it.  I currently have a Computer Whiz Sim who hacks every night for 6 to 8 hours and she only makes a few hundred dollars per night.  Her most recent was $438.  It doesn't seem like very much to me and I don't think it's increasing much, if any.  I thought surely if she continued doing it long enough that she would have some increase.  She's been doing it steadily for over 2 Sim weeks.

Yeah, I can confirm that. Last night I hacked from 11 until 6 and got $3,500. That's 7 hours, averaging on 500 per hour. So in theory, you could earn $4,500-$5,000 per night!!

But I have maxed logic and I think that affects it. I have also maxed handyness which I think "might" affect it.

The traits I use are:

Computer Whiz (needed)
Genius (required if you want to make good money from it)
Athletic
Charismatic
Ambitious (might affect it)

So basically, if you max logic and have computer whiz, genius and possibly ambitious, you can make a LOT of cash.

Hmm... My sim has been hacking for about a week and just hacked over 1000 $ into the household in one night. Her logic is non-existent and her handiness is at lvl 3. If you want to make money - all it takes is a decent computer and the computer whiz trait. I think high mood helps the most, though. Because my sims always makes the most money when she's happy.

The more your sim will hack, the better he or she will become. It's a hidden level 10 skill.
