How do you set up elevators up in a house?
« on: July 31, 2011, 01:53:24 AM »
I really want to know I've tried to set them up but it never worked for me.

We'll help build a resistance. We have to fight.

For the truly wronged, satisfaction can be found in one of two places,  absolute forgiveness or mortal vindication. This is not a story about forgiveness. When deception cuts this deep, someone has to pay.

They are in build mode.
You must place them with a door intersecting a wall.
Place them "stacked" on top of another. That is to say, do not place them randomly through the house. Place them on the same spot on different floors.

You mean put a door first? I tried to put outside but where the elevator door was in the wall, that didn't work. I put them inside they worked, I used moveobjects on

The elevator shafts need to be walled and have floor tiles.

=> 1. Build a 2x2 room (minimum size) and fill it with some floor tiles.
     2. Right above it, build another 2x2 room (+ floor tiles).

Place a first elevator in the first room, and another one in the second room. The second one should be easy to place because you'll see the top of the first elevator highlighted in yellow.

It's 4x2, not 2x2.

It's 4x2, not 2x2.

The Shaft itself is 2x2 but the Green Square Space it needs is 3x2 or maybe 4x2.

The elevator has a door attached to it already, so you don't want to put in another door.  But that door must be attached to a wall, so there needs to be at least a 2x2 empty area behind the wall where you want it to go.  Of course, you need room in front of the door as well, so make sure you have a 2x2 area (I believe) in front of where the door will go, too.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if this elevator is going to pass several floors, you will need space on each floor between the bottom floor and top floor to accommodate the elevator.  If you don't want access to the elevator on these floors, you have to place an elevator shaft (also in the build mode menu) in that area instead.
