Problems in the stylist career.
« on: January 09, 2011, 05:08:10 AM »
I wanted to know if anyone else was having this problem when advancing through the stylist career. I am now at level 8 and I get 3 stylist jobs on every working day. My problem is that I can normally only do 1 or 2 of them because when I click perform job on lots of them the action instantly disappears and on top of that on my career panel it is showing me that I should still be doing work. Thanks in advance for any help.

I was going to suggest you have a look at the Stylist Profession thread but after rereading it I see you've posted there already, so I'm going to assume you've read it.

I have yet to play a Stylist this far into the profession so I can't offer much. Is your Sim absent-minded - they often forget what they're suppose to do. I have the action cue disappear when I cue my Sim to go fulfill an opportunity. My only explanation is that the recipient Sim needs time to get out of their house/job/conversation or whatever else they might be doing at the time. So the first time you cue the action it gets dropped because the Sim is "busy". My suggestion is keep on top of your Sim and cue the action up again until it sticks. Usually, I only have to do this 2-3 times.

I've had several stylist sims and they have reached level 10. The first one I did without cheating and it just took me awhile.
Perhaps even though the action is not in the cue, you can try to still go to the house of the sim who wants a makeover and click on the sim themselves to further prevent the action being repeatedly ignored and canceled. That way your stylist sim is there at the house and has nothing else better to do than their job!

I have tried all of these options. The only explanation I can seem to find is that the sims who ask for makeovers aren't sticking to their appointments and aren't actually at the place where I'm supposed to be giving them a makeover. Thanks for the advice anyway.

Aw well that's no good. Your explanation could be a possibility. I'm assuming this is a recent problem because you are already to level 8. Correct? If you wanted too you could cheat and use testingcheatsenabled true and shift click on houses to spawn jobs and see if those work better.

There is the possibility that the sim requesting the makeover could be going to work between the time they request the makeover and when you get to where they requested it from. I've had problems with sims giving my sim an opportunity and then suddenly leaving for work while I am in transit to them, which will make the action drop from the sim I am playing at the time. Only way around that is to wait until they finish work and try again.

the problem with it is that when I've clicked "perform job" once, the box offering me the job dissapears so I have to do all this annoying map view stuff  :'(

Banded you can also see your jobs through the Career tab, there should be a blinky icon to click on when they have jobs available.

I'm having the same problem. ;( My current sim is in the stylist profession and if she gets 3 jobs she'll only be able to do 2.  So the first job I get, I'll click perform job and everything will be fine and I'll style the sim.  But then usually the second time I click perform job and it instantly disappears and I no longer can perform job at that house. Then usually the 3rd time I can successfully do style the sim.  And I swear this happens every single time and it's so frustrating. Oh and a week ago I created another sim and the athletic skill will not go up.  Even trying to get 1 skill in athletic would take hours, and this has never happened to me before.  And last thing I can't take pictures on any camera for my sims to be a photographer.  I'll take a picture with their camera and then the action never goes away and I have to force quit every single time.  I know these are a lot of problems but if anyone has any ideas to fix any of them please help me. :) Oh and I'm on a Mac Laptop, I don't know if that relates to anything.
