Full Mood Bar
« on: November 01, 2009, 06:37:55 PM »
It's such a minor thing, but I miss "platinum mood". I wish there was a bonus for completely maximizing my Sim's happiness bar. It doesn't seem to matter as much how far over the line you are.

It does matter as far as skill building goes. A sim that has, say +250 to mood is going to learn skills faster than a sim with +150 to mood. But, once you've maxed out the skills you want to learn, yeah, it would be nice to get some kind of bonus. A check from the mayor of Sunset Valley for being the happiest sim on the block!  :D

So I started this thread, wondering if anyone out there can answer this question definitively. Does the rate of lifetime happiness points really change with maximum mood vs below maximum? Metro says above that skills do indeed build faster with higher mood points. I guess I'd like to see "platinum mood" reinvigorated but harder to attain with a noticeable increase in happiness points accumulation.

Do you mean the rate at which you accumulate Happiness points if you're Elated vs. Very Happy? There has to be a difference. I don't know if it's a huge difference. I'll do some experimenting with Johnny B. Goode in the Centurian Solo Challenge.

--------

EDIT: Here's what a quick little test revealed — Johnny went to get the deluxe Soothing Salvations package from the Spa. Before he went in I clocked exactly 1 hour's worth of Happiness points. He accumulated 35. When he walked out he had that massive +93 Moodlet and all of the negative ones he had (Lonely and Hungry) were also gone. He gained 60 Happiness points over the next hour. That's a real significant difference. And that was just one hour. That one massive Moodlet translates to 4200 more Happiness points in a week if nothing else changed. Plus, start throwing in other huge Moodlets that Johnny did not have in that hour, like Great Meal or Beautifully Decorated, and Happiness points would accrue even faster. Bottom line — it really pays to keep those sims happy. Especially in the context of a long tournament.

If you cant see the difference then you could temporary use a mod to multiply the happiness points from high mood and see the difference yourself.
At max, my sims start to get about 2x the amount than any lower mood.
This is when he is getting married...

The problem with using a mod is that mods aren't allowed in any challenges here.  I know Carl and I don't use mods at all anyway just for general principles.

I guess where I'm at with this is even if someone did use a mod to give everyone exact hard data — it would only confirm what I already know is common sense. A really high mood a) builds skills quicker, and b) accrues Happiness points faster compared to having a low mood. In other words, I don't need to know the exact relationship or the exact numbers, just that the relationship is there and it's a strong one. How much I want to capitalize on that relationship with a character is part of the fun of Sims 3.

Hi there...The more positive moodlets the higher the green goes on their happiness bar.  I watched their bar goes into the small "bubble" at the top of the bar and when you choose the Lifetime Happiness tab you can see the happiness points tally at a very fast rate. ;D  I was really surprised to see this.  If the green level goes below the indention in the bar the happiness points almost stop.  I hope this is what you guys were talking about.  If not then nevermind.  :D

Thanks folks. Clear and Concise. I'll add that to the moodlets page for future readers, so they know the bare minimum just won't do

When the happiness is not in the bubble, points are only accumulated by fulfilling wishes.  If the green bar is in the bubble the points accumulate even without fulfilling wishes so it makes it very worthwhile to keep their bar in the bubble as much as possible.
