Maternity Wear
« on: June 01, 2011, 12:40:26 AM »
I have a pregnant sim and it looks like we will be able to wear the new clothing that came with generations for maternity wear! The things I wore that were not from generations were changed to generations tops and the regular pants. Did anyone else get the same clothing option?

My woman just spun in maternity clothes. The only maternity one I designed for her was the sleep wear, but I sent her to the store and when she came back she was wearing the everyday I designed, and it's from generations so I'd say yes!  ;D

I love it! Too bad it won't work for all clothes.

How did you design maternity clothes? Is that something you can only do with a dresser once they're pregnant? My sim just started showing - she spun into an ugly mustard maternity outfit and then back into her normal outfit (all generations)

Hello NancyJ,

Once you have designed (recolored) special maternity outfit for a Sim, you have to make sure she wears them before she starts to show. So, for each category, make her chenge in her maternity clothes during the first 24 hours of the pregnancy. Normaly, she'll keep those clothes the next days.

The trick to custom maternity wear is making sure to do it before she's announced as pregnant so before the spin/aww nooboo moment.

EDIT in lieu of double post:   Is all of the generations clothing maternity wear?

I just had a sim spin into maternity wear - for everyday, she got a hoodie from Generations and the base-game jeans, for formal she got a peasant blouse with a sash and stretch pants, and she's got a Generations T-shirt and the base-game exercise pants for sleepwear. Athletic was the same-ol' long-sleeved tee from the base game, and swimwear was the V-neck one-piece.

I'm strangely excited that I'll be able to tell my formal from my nightgown without checking for shoes.

Should we all share pics to help pick out customizable stuff? Unless we've got someone playing Baby Boomer handy, I don't think any one person is likely to find all the options, but collectively I bet we have a lot of pregnancies in progress.

You can buy clothes at the store now? I'll get the game probably monday but can't wait to hear how you all experience the game so far.

No, sorry for the way I worded that. She was in her designed sleepwear, I sent her to the store and she must have put her everyday on before she went in the store because when she came back, she was in it. It would be cool, but no you can't buy clothes at the store, I'm sorry for miswording that.

I'm on it! My Sim Lena is currently pregnant with her first child, so I thought I'd give dress her in non-maternity clothing and see what the game gave her. Lena ended up with these outfits for pyjamas, formal and athletic wear respectively:

It's all Generations except for the pink sweatpants, and it's so much easier on the eyes than those same two or three outfits over and over! I can't wait to start designing new maternity outfits, although the Generations clothing is lovely already. By the sound of it Lena ended up in similar clothing to cathyknits' Sim, so does anyone know if I missed anything?

That's pretty much the same stuff I ended up with for my first pregnancy. I hadn't seen the shorts, though!

I ended up with a different top for everyday with my second pregnancy - I didn't think to shoot a fashion show, but here it is in CAS, along with the maternity_ok jeans:

Nice, I like that top! Lena's just had her second pregnancy too, and this was her formalwear:

Just to clarify, i read we can select the maternity wear before she is announced as pregnant. Does this mean the Sim can access the maternity wear in the dresser to choose from or colorize, before the announcement?   ???

Yep, there'a a thread about it here. Just dress you Sim up in some of the compatible maternity gear before her bump begins to show and she'll wear it for the rest of the pregancy. You can even recolour it!  :)
