EA DL manager not connected to game?

After latest update/patch, I think the new feature with the in-game feature that you can use to buy from the store has broken my download manager.  After the patch installed the only little sign that popped up was that the EA download manager was not connected.  When I went to the exchange to peruse the objects like I do everyday, I couldn't download.  Every time I would try to download, everything froze.  Subsquent tries and it did the same thing...same when I went to the store.

I'm definitely not complaining loudly as this is a very minor bug compared to some trouble some folks are having.    I'm just stumped that a new feature that is supposed to make buying from store more accessable (why they thought this was important?) ends up you can't download anything from anywhere.  

This is definitely something that's not a workaround and will have to just wait for a patch to fix a patch that fixed another patch and then there was the original patch that fixed the game.

You can try to uninstall the EA Download Manager. When you start up again, it asks to reinstall it. Your choice if you want to do it or not. I found out my Launcher now works fine and I can download stuff after uninstalling the EADM (My Launcher crashed before this).

Thank you for the response Draigh.  I thought the EADM was needed to start the launcher...it isn't?

I didn't have any trouble starting the launcher without it. Then again, I do get crashes when the launcher closes (video card bug, EA knows about that one), but I can start the game just fine skipping the launcher and starting the Sims by hand.
It's just something you can try. You can always install it again if the launcher refuses after the uninstall.

I know I could probably uninstall it through the Add/Remove Programs on control panel, but will the option come up to install each time I start the game?

OK, EADM isn't the problem.  I uninstalled DM and "downloads" still freezes and I can't dl.  My little EA sack doesn't sparkle so I know I have no connection. 

Oh well...guess I'll wait for patch.

EA fixed the DM...deleted old files and reinstalled DM, automatically...that fixed my launcher problem.  I'm downloading again...happy camper!  Thank you EA...took awhile but you came through.

I just hope EA fixed a lot of other people's problems also.

I'm also having a problem with the launcher that if I ever click on any of the menus concerning downloads and the likes, the launcher freezes and I have to control-alt-delete me out.
Luckily, since I've already downloaded Riverview I've never felt the urge to do anything than play the regular game, so I don't care about this bug, but I'm happy for you that you got your downloading working!

Thanks for the response Swede, but I spoke too soon.  I got to download the stuff I had bought before EADM kept freezing. Then when I went back into it later, after my inital excitement, it was the same ole, same ole.    Guess I got too excited too soon.    I will probably live through it.  

At least EA is trying.
